i feel like this was destined to happen.
also, idk anything about video games so please don't say anything bitchy.
"zach, stop," jack groaned, mocking the famous vine. "zach, stop."
"stop it, jack," zach said, lightly punching the boy's arm. he returned to his phone, scrolling through instagram as he had been for the past hour.
"dude, seriously," jack's voice returned to its normal tone. "you've been on your phone all day. do something."
zach hesitated to speak his mind as he thought if jack would agree or not. the pause between the two made jack nervous, although a part of him already knew what the answer was. "fortnite?" zach asked, a grin forming on his face.
jack, at first, frowned. were video games the only thing he could think of? then he couldn't help but think of the game at the moment, and the more he thought about it, the more he wanted to play. jack smirked at the younger. "yeah, okay. fortnite."
zach threw his phone on the couch and ran with jack to set up the playstation. (is that right??) corbyn had gotten a new playstation, but he hadn't set it up yet. it took the two about half an hour since they couldn't figure out the directions, but after 30 minutes, they both sat back and sighed as they started to play.
"see that old house?" jack asked. zach murmured a 'yes' in response. "i'm gonna go in it. you stay outside, 'kay?"
"got it," zach said.
"what are you two doing?" they heard the female voice speak through the headphones. "i already checked that house, it's empty."
"well," jack said, making a face as he tried to think of a comeback. immediately giving up, he said the first thing on his mind. "good job, (y/n)." he sighed as he was in disappointed in himself. he could do so much better.
"yeah, i know," (y/n)'s voice rang through zach's ears, and he couldn't help but feel his heart warm up in his chest.
zach had met (y/n) through instagram. she had never heard of the band 'why don't we', but she knew the name 'daniel seavey' from american idol. (y/n) was introduced to jack, and from then on, whenever they played fortnite, she played fortnite. zach thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world. she wasn't a cliche girl. she didn't go for that certain look that almost every girl wanted. she was her own self, zach could tell, and after a week of staying up late and messaging, zach found himself falling for her.
"your game is not on today, robert," (y/n) said, using the nickname she made for jack.
"actually," jack replied. "my game is on. otherwise, i wouldn't be playing."
there was a long moment of silence as none of the three knew what to say to that. "that's the worst thing i think i've ever heard you say."
"hey, (y/n)," zach spoke. "why don't you have a nickname for me?" he asked playfully. corbyn teasingly squinted his eyes at the young boy. he knew about his little crush on (y/n), but promised not to tell anybody.
"umm," (y/n) said, sighing as she thought about a nickname. "well, i could call you 'zach heroin', but that's not very original of me." there was another pause as they continued to play until an idea popped into (y/n)'s head. "i got it."
"what?" jack asked, smiling as he thought of all the different names she could've come up with for his friend.
"nemo," (y/n) told them, trying her hardest not to laugh. "i'm gonna call you 'nemo'."
