if you had asked daniel james seavey how he felt in that moment, he would respond with panicky breaths and tears falling down his eyes. he had held your hand the entire time, and he knew that the pain from you squeezing his fingers so hard was nothing like the pain you were going through.
you had waited nine months for this moment.
the most exciting and painful moment of your life.
you were excited to be having a son. maybe having a daughter would've been a little bit nicer, but to think of your baby boy, who you were currently birthing, and the memories you'd make with him were enough.
"you're so close," you heard daniel whisper. you wanted to respond but your throat burned like hell from all the screaming. "you're almost there, baby, you can do it."
you felt your body go loose for a few seconds as you paused to take a breath. you shook your head and gulped. "no, i can't," you cried as you leaned into daniel's hold. "i can't do it, daniel."
he kissed your forehead and held your hand with both of his. he closed his eyes and you could feel his breath on your skin. you took notice to the tears falling down his cheeks; he looked like he was in just as much pain as you were.

you were incredibly sore - your arms, legs, fingers, throat, and head. you had no idea how long you had been passed out for, but you were exhausted from the previous fifteen hours.
your eyes were still closed but you heard daniel's soft voice speak.
"hey, bud," he whispered. "look at you. so precious, you looked so tired. i'm gonna tell you right now that your mommy worked so hard for you so you better love her." daniel chuckled. "your eyes aren't even open but i can tell you have mine. and it's obvious that you're gonna have her nose.
"aw, you're grandma is gonna be so excited to see you. she's probably already excited that i just called her 'grandma'. and i know your grandpa is ready to be the best one for you. and your aunt and uncles were dying for this to happen. tyler and chris were hiding their excitement like they always do, but anna was hype the entire time.
"and their are your metaphorical uncles. or is it god-uncles? i don't exactly know, but they're your uncles, just not related. there's jack, you're gonna love his curly hair. just don't pull," daniel laughed. you opened your eyes and turned to side to look at your husband but he didn't notice.
"then, there's zach. he's not going to be allowed to hold for a while because he drops things very, very easily. and then jonah, who is going to act like he's your actual father, but don't fall for it. he's just protective. and then corbyn, who will teach you everything you need to know. from math and science and space to how to escape prison."
you smiled as you watched daniel talk to your baby. he sat in the corner of the room, the chair sat right in front of the window. a natural light bled through the blinds and it looked absolutely beautiful on your husband's and child's skin.
"oh god, i am so excited to celebrate christmas and halloween and thanksgiving with you. you are going to love christmas. me and your mommy are definitely going to buy you lots of presents. and i'm gonna do my best to get us out of LA so you can see snow at least once in your life."
you smiled and held in a gasp as you saw your baby's eyes open. daniel was right - they were a beautiful ocean-sky blue, just like his.
you almost cried when you heard the small gasp from daniel's lips. he smiled and sniffled before letting out a breathy sob. the line shimmered on the small tear that trickled down his cheek.
"hello," daniel said as he brought his finger up to the baby's hand. you watched your son's fingers wrap around his father's. they were so small and delicate, and daniel began to shake. "you are absolutely adorable, aren't you?"
