"Homura," said a familiar voice. I stopped walking, and turned to the source of the voice. "I'm guessing you were pretty angry, too," said Shouto, coming in front of me. I pressed my lips together, not knowing what to say. Shouto embraced me. "Are you okay?" he asked. I nodded slightly, but my mind still felt rage inside it. "But at least you made through to the next round," he said, pulling away, "and when did you learn how to make blue flames? That was amazing." I opened my palm up.
"I'm not sure how I did it," I said softly, "it's like all that rage that was built up inside me seemed to come out all at once. The fire temperature started to rise a lot, but I just let it be."
"Are you hurt?" he asked, looking around my body for burn marks.
"Surprisingly, no," I said, looking at my palm still, "it's like my body forgot its limits and I didn't feel any pain when I was using my fire, but a little afterwards, my body just felt really hot." Shouto let out a cold mist that surrounded me and cooled my body down. I gave him a smile to thank him. "That was really cool with what you did, too, although it was a little over the top, too. I couldn't help but feel a little bad for Sero," I said, giving a slight chuckle. He rubbed the back of his head.
"I guess we felt the same way in our matches," he admitted, giving me a nervous chuckle. I gave him a smile, then pointed behind us.
"You going to see the rest of the matches?" I asked. He nodded. I gave him a final smile as we walked back to the stadium. We managed to see the ending of Kirishima's fight, but it ended in a draw.
"While we wait for Tetsutetsu and Kirishima to recover, we'll start the next match!" yelled Present Mic. My eyes saw the screen, and I gulped. Katsuki Bakugou vs Ochako Uraraka. I still couldn't help but feel bad for Uraraka, but part of me wanted to see what Bakugou was going to come up with. We watched as the two entered the stage, Uraraka tenser than ever. "The eighth and last match of the first round!" continued Present Mic, "he was kind of famous in middle school! This isn't the face of a regular person! From the hero course, it's Katsuki Bakugou! Versus, she's the one I'm rooting for! From the hero course, it's Ochako Uraraka! Eighth match, start!" As soon as Present Mic's voice rang out, Uraraka sprinted forward towards Bakugou, but as soon as she came close to him, he blasted her away with his usual right palm. The stage was covered in smoke, and I could barely see what was happening. From what I could see, Bakugou continued to blast Uraraka away from him, sending her toppling over many times. Members of the audience started to get up and yell their negative comments about how they should stop the fight, claiming Bakugou was being too hard on her. That's true, but really, they should have been paying more attention.
"Was that a pro saying he's playing around?" said... Aizawa? "How many years have you been a pro? If you're saying that with a straight face, there's no point in watching anymore, so go home! Go home, and look into changing careers!" With all these sudden words, my head turned to the cubical Present Mic and Aizawa were in. Everyone, even Shouto, was surprised by his sudden burst. "Bakugou is being careful because he's acknowledged the strength of his opponent who made it this far. It's because he's doing everything he can to win that he can't go easy on her or let his guard down." I smiled at his words, and looked up to where Uraraka had kept the rocks Bakugou had destroyed floating above him. However, before the rocks came crumbling down to him, or before Uraraka could use her Quirk on him, Bakugou raised his arm up, using his other one to clench it upwards, sending a couple explosions up his arm, and sending a huge explosion up to the rocks, obliterating them all, while also sending Uraraka backwards. I smirked a little, knowing that was one of his most powerful attacks. However, my smirk came down a bit, as I realised how much damage he could cause to himself if he made another one. As the smoke cleared, I watched Uraraka ease her body up, staring at the boy who had destroyed her plan.
"B-Bakugou delivers a satisfying explosion! He blasts boldly through Uraraka's secret plan!" stuttered Present Mic. I noticed Bakugou sigh, rather harshly, and saw his left arm trembling slightly. I frowned a little. He'd better not do something like that again. I watched Uraraka's frail body slowly get up, struggling to stand steadily. Bakugou ran towards her, his arms by his head. I watched Uraraka turn around and...fall? Her body hit the ground hard, making Bakugou stop running. "Uraraka's down!" yelled Present Mic. I watched poor Uraraka try her hardest to move forward, but it's like her body wouldn't let her. I gripped Shouto's sleeve in worry, hoping that she was okay. Midnight walked over to Uraraka, telling Bakugou to stand down.
"Uraraka's out of commission," declared Midnight. I let out a sad sigh, thinking of how much pain she must be in. I couldn't help but be reminded of myself when I looked at her body on the ground, trying so hard to push forward, but the weight of our broken bodies wouldn't let us. "Bakugou advances to the second round!" The crowd went wild as I watched Uraraka being taken away to Recovery Girl. My eyes fell on Bakugou as he also watched her leave, but later took off himself.
"The eighth match of the first round..." mumbled Present Mic, "Oh, Uraraka... oh yeah, Bakugou advances to the second round. Now let's pull ourselves together! The first round is all done! Let's move on to the next round quickly after a short break!" Before the break, we witnessed Kirishima do an arm wrestling with the guy he drew with, and he ended up winning. Kirishima started to yell like it was contained inside of him for so long. He also held out his hand to his opponent, seeing as they were so similar. I could tell they were going to friends.
"Now we've got everyone who advancing to the second round!" announced Present Mic, "so let's get started!"
"Oh, you should get going, Shouto!" I said, almost pushing him away.
"I'm going, don't worry," he said, half smiling. Before he left, I put my hand on his shoulder.
"Good luck. Give it everything you've got!" I said, grinning at him. He gave me a small smile, and walked away. As I watched him leave, I let out a sigh. He's up against Midoriya. I feel like I couldn't watch, but I had to give him my support. I turned around and started heading for the seats our class was sitting. As I walked down the steps, someone grabbed my wrist and forced me down next to them. I blinked in confusion, and looked at the person. Bakugou held a pouty face, not really paying attention to me.
"Tch," I said, facing away and crossing my arms, "the one time you could actually use your mouth to tell me to sit next to you."
"Shut up," he growled, almost yelling, but turned away slightly. "You... um, did really well in that fight, even though you looked pissed." My eyes widened slightly, and brought my eyes to my hand, opening it and staring at my open palm. Even though I didn't know how I did it, and even though I went a little overboard, I smiled a little.
"Thanks," I said, closing it and glanced at him, "you did really well, too, though I felt a little sorry for Uraraka."
"Who's that?" he asked. My eyebrows narrowed together.
"The girl you were just fighting against!" I yelled, "is your memory that bad?!"
"Shut your damn mouth!" yelled Bakugou, tutting as he turned his head away from me. "Tch, it's not like she was weak or anything." My eyes widened at his sudden words. I thought Bakugou was the type of person to think that everyone was genuinely weak, but I guess seeing Uraraka outsmart him for a second really put things in perspective for him.
"But she still couldn't ever beat me," he added, making me change my mind almost immediately. I ended up flicking the side of his head, and he raised his fist at me. "Do you wanna be next?!" he yelled, but I just smirked.
"Jeez, you never change, huh?" I muttered, and pulling Bakugou's fist down to his lap, "If we end up fighting, then we'll see, but for now, I've got someone to watch here." I let go of his fist and brought my hands to my own lap, and peered over the side as I watched Shouto get up on stage.
"Thanks for waiting, everybody!" shouted Present Mic, "the first match of the second round is a big match! The man who won a huge victory in the first round and literally levy the audience frozen! From the hero course, it's Shouto Todoroki! On the other hand, this guy barely made it past the first round! What kind of fight will he show us this time? From the hero course, it's Izuku Midoriya!" I stared down at Shouto, almost worrying about this fight. I glanced over and noticed Bakugou was as eager as me to watch the match. "At this year's sports festival, both have shown top class performance! It's like two great rivals fighting against each other! Now, Midoriya versus Todoroki! Start!" I watched them both get into their starting positions. Instantly, Shouto released a wave of ice towards Midoriya, but just how I flicked Bakuou, Midoriya flicked the air, breaking down Shouto's ice and almost the crowd with it. I squinted my eyes a little, waiting for the wind to cool down. I noticed Shouto had propped himself against a small wall of ice to stop him from going out of bounds. Shouto released the same wave of ice to Midoriya, who, again, wiped it away with no trouble. Again, the same action repeated. I clenched my clothing slightly, wondering how Shouto was going to win. Kirishima's voice broke me out of my thoughts.
"It started?!" he asked, staring at the match.
"Kirishima, good job making it to the second round," said Sero that sat near me. I smiled at him as a way of giving my congratulations.
"Yeah, I'll be up against you next, Bakugou. Let's have a good fight," said Kirishima, glancing down at Bakugou.
"I'll kill you," he mumbled, not facing him. I rolled my eyes, and gave him a light slap on the head.
"He means he's looking forward to it," I said, giving Kirishima a nervous smile.
"Oi! What was that for?! You wanna die, too?!" yelled Bakugou, rubbing his head. I glared at him. Kirishima laughed.
"It's okay, Todoroki," he chuckled, "I'd like to see him try! But man, both of you and your brother can shoot off powerful attacks that cover a lot of ground. Like 'Bam!'" I chuckled at his little rant.
"And you can do it with no time lag," mumbled Sero. I gave them a nervous smile, not sure how I should respond.
"I'm not just shooting them off," said Bakugou in a low voice, "don't underestimate 'em. If you overuse your muscles, the muscle fibres tear, and if you keep running, you'll run out of breath." I raised an eyebrow at him, unsure of what he was going for, until he looked down at his palm. I remembered the time he told me about his weaknesses. I felt slightly honoured that he told me. In a way, it made me feel closer to him. Well, closer yeah, as we've... kissed. I tried to stop the blood I could feel rushing to my face and glanced at the confused Kirishima.
"What he means to say is that Quirks are physical abilities, too. There must also have some kind of limit," I said, finishing Bakugou's point.
"If you think about it like that, I guess it makes sense," muttered Kirishima.
"Oi, I was the one talking!" growled Bakugou to me, but I pushed his face away from me as I continued to look at Kirishima.
"Then, against your brother, the instant-killer, Midoriya wants... an endurance match, right?" he slowly said. I glanced at the match, my hand still against Bakugou's cheek, and nodded.
"That's what it seems to look like, yeah," I said, finally releasing Bakugou's cheek.
"You're gonna die, you know that?" he growled, clenching his fingers. I glanced at him.
"Shut up and watch the match," I said, glaring at him. He glared back, pouting and crossing his arms, but obeyed my command. I gave him a smirk. Reminds me of a little kid. As my eyes drew back to the match, Shouto sent another wave of ice to Midoriya, and I saw Midoriya stagger a little after sending an attack to his ice. Noticing, Shouto created a pillar of ice and started running up it towards Midoriya. Again, Midoriya blows his ice away, but Shouto leapt into the air, aiming to land on Midoriya. He managed to dodge Shouto, but as soon as Shouto touched the ground, he took advantage of Midoriya being in the air, and froze his leg. Without warning, a bigger blast of air hit us, making me cover my face with my arm. I ended up leaning back from the force, and my shoulder seemed to meet up with Bakugou's. I felt a sudden warmth on my right side. I glanced up at him, as he glanced down at me. Having everyone distracted from the wind, Bakugou gave me a light blush and a small smile, even though he was threatening me earlier. I returned it, but as soon as the wind stopped, my attention turned back to the match. I scanned for Shouto, and found him almost encased in his ice to stop him from leaving the bounds. As he stood up, my eyes widened from his state. I noticed his right arm was trembling slightly as it was slightly covered in ice. I gripped my clothing, feeling guilty that I wasn't there to melt it for him. I then felt something warm wrap around my finger. Glancing down, I saw Bakugou shyly take my finger, but putting it between us so no one could see. He wasn't looking at me, but I could tell that he was saying that everything was going to be fine and that I should relax. Understanding him, I loosened my grip on my clothing, but kept my fingers between his. His warmth felt comforting. I smiled to myself, glancing down at our hands. As I watched the match again, I saw that both of them stood still, and it looked like Shouto was talking to him. Again, Shouto shot a stronger wave of ice to Midoriya, who looked so worn out from continuously breaking his body. However, like before, another wave from Midoriya hit Shouto's ice, making everyone, even Bakugou surprised at what was happening. I felt his fingers clenching around mine, and both of us ended up mindlessly grabbing each other's hands completely as we stared down at the match. Again, Shouto stopped himself from going out of bounds. Once again, they froze as they spoke, until Midoriya's voice rang over the stadium.
"Come at me with everything you've got!"
I seemed alarmed at his words, seeing how broken his body looked, yet he still taunted Shouto with those words. Shouto ran towards him, and I could see how angry he looked. Wait, his movements... are slower than usual? I gripped Bakugou's hand tighter. I saw him glance at me, but I could see that he was analysing Shouto's movements, too. He gave me a reassuring squeeze, making me loosen my body a little, but I still clenched my teeth tightly, worried that Shouto was slowly running out of energy. As he leapt forward, Midoriya copied his movements. I saw his arm light up, the same way as in the cavalry battle, and punched Shouto right in the stomach.
"Shouto," I mumbled, slightly leaning out of my chair. I noticed Shouto froze Midoriya's other arm, but I watched in panic as he tumbled away, hitting the ground hard. I felt a rough but kind pull from my arm, as Bakugou pulled me back to my seat as Shouto stood up. As I sat, I felt Bakugou come closer to me, almost in a comforting way, never releasing his hand from mine. Shouto send another wave of ice from where he had fallen. This time, Midoriya simply dodged, as the ice wasn't moving as fast as before. Shouto came running again, trying to freeze Midoriya again, but Midoriya shot Shouto and himself apart. The constant attacks kept making me tremble. Seeing both opponents weaker and weaker couldn't help but strain my heart. As if reading my mind, Bakugou secretly wrapped his arm around my back, stopping near my butt, making me blush a bit, but he pulled me even closer to him, almost pulling me into his chest. I leaned onto him, gripping his clothing as I continued to watch the match. It didn't seem like him to do this, but recently I've realised that he's become extra caring to me, even though he's still himself when it comes to insults. I noticed Shouto pause as Midoriya approached him. He seemed to be frozen himself, until Midoriya punched him. I gripped Bakugou's clothing tighter as he pulled me closer to him. What is he doing?!
