I didn't want to believe it. Not one bit. How could he vanish within a couple minutes?! I could hear his footsteps right behind me! I stared widely at the darkness behind me, as well as the group who was with me.
"The boy you're talking about..." said a cunning, devilish voice. I peered upwards to see a tall man standing high up in a tree. "I took him with my magic." As I got a better look at him, he wore a long trench coat, wearing red gloves and a top hat, throwing a small blue ball around in his hand. "This talent isn't someone who should be on the hero side. We'll take him to a stage where he can shine more." Looking up at his face, I just saw a mask. It had an eerie smile to it, with hollow eyes that made it seem like it was staring through me.
"Give him back!" yelled Midoriya.
"'Give him back'?" the man mockingly repeated, "that's a strange thing to say. Bakugou doesn't belong to anyone." With those words, I snapped.
"He belongs to me!" I screamed, fighting back tears. The man looked down at me, holding back a chuckle.
"What rubbish," he said, "he's his own person, you egoist." I clenched my teeth in anger.
"Give him back!" Midoriya repeated. I clenched my fists, trying hard not to scream anymore.
"Move!" Shouto said, slamming his right foot down, releasing spiked ice towards the villain. However, he dodged it immediately.
"We simply want to show him that the path he's on now with its fanatical values is not the only path he can take," the man continued in the air and landing in a tree, "kids these days are made to choose their paths based on their values." I stared down this man, not taking my eyes off him to even blink. I could feel rage burning up inside me.
"It's not just Bakugou! Tokoyami's not here, either!" warned Shoji. Shouto glanced over at me, noticing how affected I appeared. He turned his attention to the villain.
"To go out of your way to talk to us.. you're underestimating us!" he yelled. I sensed the same rage was building up inside of him.
"I was originally an entertainer, you know," teased the man, playfully holding up the small blue ball from before, "it's a bad habit of mine. Taking Tokoyami was an improvisation on my part." With that, he proceeded to hold up another ball, which we believed was Tokoyami, trapped and confused. "Moonfish... the man with 'Blade-Tooth'... he may not look it, but he's a cutthroat on death row whose appeal was dismissed. With a violent nature that trampled that cutthroat down one-sidedly, I decided he was good, too."
"You bastard! Don't take them!" yelled Midoriya. Listening to his outbursts only made my anger rise higher.
"Midoriya! Calm down!" hushed Shoji. His voice appeared muffled to me as I only focused my senses on the villain. I could feel the flames build up inside me. Without thinking, my arm forcefully moved to his direction.
"Quit toying with us!" I roared, letting out a full force of fire directly towards the villain, avoiding damaging the trees and Bakugou and Tokoyami. The flames burned for a long distance, trying to make sure he didn't escape. I let myself calm down after a couple seconds, letting my hand drop down, ignoring the pain from the wound. As the steam cleared, the voice came back.
"Sorry, tricks and running away are my only redeeming features!" it said, and I spotted him hovering overhead, "there's no way I'd fight students who are hero candidates. Vanguard Action Squad!" We noticed he was now talking to what appeared to be a headset we couldn't see. "Target successfully collected! It was just a short while, but with this, our show has come to a close! As arranged, head to the retrieval point in the next five minutes!"
"'Come to a close'?" repeated Shouto. We watched as the man started to leave us.
"No!" I yelled, instinctively running after him.
"I won't let you! I won't let you get away!" yelled Shouto, running after me, followed by the footsteps of the others. Running faster than anyone, I took the lead, but the guy kept moving faster, hastily making his way through the trees. "Damn it, that mask guy's fast!" growled Shouto in frustration.
"If only Iida were here..." mumbled Ochacho.
"Damn it!" I grumbled, seeming to pick up the pace.
"We can't... give up..." whimpered Midoriya, his voice weak and hoarse, "we have to catch up... and get them back!"
"But at this rate, he's just getting further away!" mentioned Shoji.
"Uraraka, make us float!" said Midoriya, "and Asui, throw us as far as you can with your tongue! Shoji, use your arms to correct our trajectory and pull us! Uraraka, measure the distance with your eyes and release your Quirk when the time looks about right! Todoroki, use your flames to push us faster to where he's heading!"
"I see. A human bullet, huh?" said Shoji.
"Wait, Deku! You're still going to move with those injuries?" worried Ochacho.
"Midoriya, you stay here," mentioned Shouto, "with that pain, you're in no state to-"
"I don't feel any pain right now," interrupted Midoriya, his voice now full of anger, "I can move... hurry!" With that, Ochacho stopped and pulled off her shirt.
"Deku, at least let me do this...!" she said, proceeding to rip her shirt in two, wrapping it around both Midoriya's arms, using sticks to keep them straight. When she was done, Midoriya, Shoji, Shouto and I stood with our back all touching, Ochacho touching us to make us float while Tsu wrapped her tongue around us. "Okay, Tsu," finished Ochacho, stepping away from us.
"Make sure you save those two," begged Tsu. With a ribbit, she flung us over the trees, faster than even I've even flown before. Shoji grabbed Shouto and Midoriya's arms, raising his arms up to balance them out. I grabbed onto Shoji's back, letting fire shoot out from under my feet, making us go faster as we finally caught up to the masked villain. I proceeded to yell with the boys, not in fear from being in the air but because I couldn't hold it in anymore. Small tears flew out of my eyes, both from the wind and the fear I had for Bakugou. We collided against him, and we felt the lightness from Ochacho's Quirk release from us, making us fall back down to the ground with a huge thud and grunt, as all four of us forced this guy into the hard ground.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey," said a squeaky voice, which was hidden by the amount of dust we had created. It didn't matter. My eyes were only fixated on this masked guy, darting them around to find the Bakugou and Tokoyami. "I know those kids!" continued the voice.
"Who are they?" said a lower, rougher voice. As soon as the smoke cleared, I saw a blue flame ignited by another man.
"Mister, get out of the way," he said calmly.
"Roger!" said the masked villain, turning blue and completely disappearing. Before I could analyse the situation, blue flames flew around me, hitting Midoriya and Shoji. Being a fire user myself, no flame can harm me, but I still worried for the others.
"Midoriya! Shoji!" I yelled, coming out of the blaze and pushing them aside. I looked over for Shouto, but saw another villain hover over him.
"Faces from Shigaraki's kill list!" he said, recognising the voice from earlier, "that little beat up-boy and you and your sister! They weren't though!" he said, finishing in a completely different voice, which explains earlier. He started to pull out some sort of rod from his wrists, but Shouto quickly sent ice his way. I breathed a sigh of relief, and turned around when I heard a thud near me.
"I thought so earlier, too," said a girl with a completely insane voice, "but you'd be cooler if you bled more, Izuku!" I saw her raise a knife high up, aiming it right for Midoriya's head. My legs moved on their own, spinning my hands on the floor as I kicked the girl away from him. She flew away, skidding to a stop a couple meters away. "Is that how it is?" she said, her voice low and angered, "are you going to get in the way of my affection? I don't like girls who get in my way, so I'll cut you for sure." She gave me a deadly look, something way different from the person she was a second ago. Shivers went down my spine as she looked at me, but I gave her one of my deadly glares.
"You're in the way of getting my boyfriend back! Don't underestimate us," I said, my voice low and angered like hers. Her eyes suddenly sparkled.
"You have a boyfriend? Who is it? I might have to steal him from you. I wonder if he's my type to cut, too," she said, her voice high-pitched again.
"She's crazy," I heard Shoji mumble. I heard the crackling of my ice being formed as Shouto fought the guy attacking him. I then noticed in the corner of my eye, the masked guy we chased earlier reappear and walk over to the villain with blue flames. I saw him reach into his pocket, fumble a little until Shoji broke out. "Guys, we're running away!" he said, glaring at the masked man, "I'm sure now based on what he just did. I don't know what your Quirk is, but inside that right pocket of yours that you kept flaunting were these- Tokoyami and Bakugou, right, entertainer?" He held up two blue balls, and the wave of relief that hit me was unbearable.
"Oh, that didn't take you very long!" chuckled the masked villain, "as expected of someone with six arms! You're good at feeling around!" Shoji, Midoriya and I started to run as Shouto covered our tracks with a wall of ice. Suddenly, we saw movement coming from the darkness as Midoriya skidded to a stop.
"A Nomu!" he yelled.
"Over here!" yelled Shouto, heading off to the side. However, our path was now blocked by a familiar swirling mist. It was tall, dark and had piercing yellow eyes.
"Th-this guy..." breathed Shoji.
"...was at USJ..." said Shouto.
"The warp..." whimpered Midoriya.
"It has been five minutes since the signal," spoke the warp, "let us go, Dabi." We saw portals open up by every villain.
"Sorry, Izuku, I'll see you later," sung the insane girl as she walked off into her portal. The guy fighting Shouto dove into his, leaving the two remaining villains.
"Wait. Our goal is not yet-" spoke the fire villain, but was interrupted.
"Oh, that? They seemed so happy that they rushed out here, so I thought I'd give them a present." Our heads turned to him as he spoke with a chuckle. "It's a habit, one of the basics of magic. When I flaunt something, it's because there's something I don't want you to see." He proceeded to take off his mask, revealing only his devilish eyes and mouth. He opened it, showing two other blue balls tucked away on his tongue. They shone in the moonlight, revealing a frozen Bakugou and Tokoyami. My eyes opened wide in shock, hardly breathing right.
"N-no way...!" breathed Midoriya and Shouto. The man snapped his fingers, and the two balls Shoji was carrying opened.
"My ice?!" yelled an angered Shouto.
"That's right," sneered the masked man, "during the freezing attack, I prepared dummies and put them in my right pocket."
"No!" I yelled, running with the others towards him.
"If you discover that what was in my right hand was in my right pocket, then of course you'd rush happily over," he continued, the warp portal consuming him. My legs picked up speed, as he started to bow towards us. "And now, that's all from me-" he said, but was interrupted from a sudden beam of light. A laser. I turned to the source of the laser, seeing Aoyama hidden behind some bushes, trembling in fear. The man coughed out the two balls, and my eyes widened in shock. We can get them! Shoji and Shouto burst forward, arms outstretched. Midoriya was beside me, but suddenly tripped and took me along with me.
"Midoriya! Are you okay?" I yelled.
"That doesn't matter!" he yelled back, our heads turning to the two boys. Shoji luckily grabbed one, and my head fell towards Shouto, but the fire guy's hand got to the ball first.
"That's sad..." he said, his voice low and chucking, "Shouto... Todoroki..." I watched Shouto fall to the ground behind the warp portal. Midoriya and I had the same idea. Both of us leapt from the ground, running to get the other ball back. "Confirm it now. Release this," he ordered, turning to the masked villain.
"My show's been ruined!" he mumbled, and left after snapping his fingers. The ball Shoji was carrying opened and Tokoyami fell into Shoji's arms. My heart dropped in a panic. My legs moved faster, leaving Midoriya behind. The ball the villain was holding opened. Bakugou appeared in front of me.No noise formed around me. Not my feet hitting the ground, not Midoriya calling Bakugou's name, not even my mouth could make out words. I couldn't feel the pain of my wounds dripping blood onto the ground as I ran. It's like time had slowed down. This situation felt so familiar but I didn't want it to be. The villain held Bakugou's neck, his piercing smile retracting into the portal, taking Bakugou with him. No... no... my legs moved faster. My eyes met with Bakugou's and I could see a familiar fear rise up in his eyes. I could see sweat trickling down his face, visibly scared by what was happening. All I heard was his muffled struggles but knew resisting was a huge mistake. The closer I got to the warp gate, the deeper Bakugou got into the portal. The further he got in, the more wider his eyes got. I was mere inches away from catching him, but the only sound that came into my ears were his raspy voice.
"Don't come, Homura..."The warp gate closed up, leading me to drop on the floor, skidding my wounds hard against the ground. Blood spilt around me, but I didn't care. My eyes were fixated on the fire eating up the forest and the place where Bakugou was taken. I could still see his horrified eyes fresh in my mind. Nothing mattered anymore. I couldn't hold it in. Screams erupted from my mouth, fierce tears and flames both leaving my body. My screams echoed over the forest, probably being heard by anyone nearby. I couldn't stop. I just couldn't.
I didn't pay attention to anything after. My screams were still echoing inside me, but nothing came out but silence. Everything was a haze as flashing light for ambulances and police filled the area. I let my hair fall over my eyes, curtaining my vision. I felt arms wrap around me, sitting me down and feeling my wounds being treated. I didn't care. I heard the murmurs of others around me, but I didn't want to hear them. All I could feel were my tears falling hard.
Bakugou... Katsuki... come back...
