It was way too early. Even Shouto and I haven't woken up this early for training. We did when we were younger, but that was our father's fault. As we got older and began trained alone, we usually worked late at night, not this early. All the girls stood up from their beds, getting ready and all of them complaining. When I went to brush my teeth, I spotted my neck. What?! I looked closer and spotted the mark Bakugou had left last night. That bastard. I'll kill him. Wait, don't turn into him! It's not the time. I'll just... cover it. Yes! Quickly! Before someone else sees! Luckily, we wore our UA sports outfit, which covered the mark well. When we all got ready, we slowly heaved ourselves outside to where Aizawa and the rest of the class were waiting.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!" said Aizawa, his voice and appearance exactly the same as usual, "today, we will begin training camp to increase your strength in earnest. The goal of this training camp is to increase everyone's strength and with that, for everyone to obtain their provisional licenses. It is to prepare you all to face hostilities that are becoming more real by the minute. Proceed carefully. So Bakugou, try throwing that." Aizawa threw him a baseball, the exact same from when we started school.
"This is from the fitness test..." mumbled Bakugou.
"Your previous record, from right after you started school, was 705.2 meters," said Aizawa, "let's see how much you've improved." Bakugou walked over to the side, exactly like in the fitness test, except without the lines to guide him.
"Oh, we're checking our progress?" asked Mina.
"Since a lot has happened these past three months, huh?" added Sero, "maybe he can throw it a kilometre or something now!"
"Do it, Bakugou," encouraged Kirishima. I smirked and crossed my arms, waiting for Bakugou to start.
"Then..." growled Bakugou, "here I go... Go to hell!" Like he did last time, Bakugou used his Quirk to shoot the ball forward, yelling something insane as he did so. I placed my hand against my face, shaking my head in disapproval. Kirishima laughed at my reaction. We watched the ball leave our sight, and Bakugou closed his eyes, grinning and waiting for his result.
"709.6 meters," said Aizawa. My eyes widened. I bet Balugou's did, too.
"Huh? It's less than I thought," said Kirishima. I saw Bakugou trembling in anger and embarrassment as Aizawa continued.
"It's been about three months since you started high school," he said, "through various experiences you all have definitely improved. But that improvement has mainly been at the mental and technical levels, with some increase in stamina. As you can see, your Quirks themselves have not improved that much. That's why we will work on improving your Quirks starting today." Aizawa let out a grin, looking almost evil in a way. It sent out a vibe that felt very unsettling. "It'll be so hard you'll feel like dying, but try not to actually die..." The whole class felt nothing but dread as we watched him smile and read out what exercises we were supposed to do for the day. Nervous sweat ran down my neck as he called out my name. All I could do was hold in my screams. I felt nothing but pain and exhaustion. I stood in the middle on the mountains, emitting my flames at the maximum temperature I could create. The flames were blue, almost melting the ground below me. Every so often, powerful ice formed around me, slightly calming my skin down as I continued to emit the flames. From the corner of my eye, I had a glimpse of Shouto in a bath, switching between ice and fire. Sweat was dripping down him and he looked extremely exhausted. However, he still continued to switch.
Shouto Todoroki and Homura Todoroki. Alternating between ice and fire, Shouto Todoroki is to make the temperature of the bathwater uniform. This training is to get his body used to freezing and have him try controlling the temperature of his flames. Homura Todoroki is to continuously produce powerful fire to increase the temperature and durability of her Quirk. She will have her brother calm her skin down with his ice so she's not severely injured.
Many hours later, our surroundings turned orange as the sun started to set. I could hear the heavy breathing of everyone. Some of them even sat on the floor. All of us felt as though our souls had left our bodies, myself included. Every inch of my skin felt as though someone was constantly pinching it. I didn't even have the strength to ask Shouto for help. It's not like he could. He looked as exhausted as me.
"Now, remember what I said yesterday?" called Pixie Bob, along with her partner, Ragdoll. "'Today's the only day we'll be doing stuff for you!'"
"At least make your own food!" squealed Ragdoll, her paw waving wildly, "Curry!"
"Yessir..." mumbled everyone, hardly having the energy to open their eyes. Ragdoll laughed hysterically, pointing at us.
"You all look exhausted," she giggled, "but that doesn't mean you can make any old sloppy cat food!"
"It's true that part of rescuing someone is filling the stomachs and spirits of those exhausted during a disaster," said Iida, seeming to snap out of his dazed expression, "That's UA for you! No opportunity wasted! Let's make the most delicious curry in the world, everyone!"
"Okay," said the drained students. We all wondered over to the tables where the heroes had laid out a lot of ingredients for us to make a curry. I began to snap out of my tiredness and I started gathering the ingredients, putting them in piles to slice, then put some near the pots for us to cook. I glanced over and saw Shouto lighting the fire.
"Todoroki? Can we get fire over here, too?" shouted Mina to him.
"Bakugou, use Explosion to light this," said Sero.
"Like I could, scum!" he yelled, whipping his hand to the pot, setting off an explosion which ended up destroying the whole pit. I giggled to myself as I came closer to the pots.
"If you only rely on others, then you will not learn how to light a fire," Momo pointed out. I watched over her as she lit her own fire.
"No, it's fine," said Shouto, squatting next to her and lighting the fire.
"Wow, thanks!" smiled Ochacho.
"Burn, burn, burn it up!" yelled Mina. I smiled at the girls and saw a glimpse of Shouto smiling. I've never seen him smile so warmly around anyone. It warmed my heart to see it. I ended up wrapping my arm around him, squeezing our cheeks together with a grin on my own lips. I stood up and turned around, spotting Bakugou walk away from his mess. I smiled and quickly paced near him.
"Bakugou?" I said, stopping behind him. He glanced behind and met my eyes. "Can you help me cut some things?" Bakugou grumbled but turned around and headed towards me, grabbing my arm and dragging me to the table. As we sat down, I gave him a couple things to cut. He started to slice them roughly, not really caring how they turned out. "You shouldn't be this rough. You might cut yourself," I calmly said.
"We're going to eat this! Who cares how it looks?" he grumbled, glaring at me. I sighed and moved closer to him. I put my hand over his, gently showing him how the ingredients should be cut. I was so close to him that I could hear him breathing, but I didn't mind. Soon, I felt his nose bury into my neck. My heart quicken.
"Good," he softly said. His tone was slightly different than usual. I glanced at him, slightly embarrassed.
"W-What?" I said, a little confused.
"My mark is still there," he said, gliding his nose against my jawline. My cheeks immediately turned red, but I couldn't bring myself to pull away. I could feel his warm breath setting on my skin, occasionally feeling his lips brush up against me. Suddenly, I felt him kissing my neck, moving down the inside of my shirt.
"B-Bakugou! Not here!" I said in a harsh whisper. He smirked at me in a different way than usual that sent shivers down my spine. He turned away and continued cutting the ingredients. I silently fanned my cheeks as I imagined they were extremely red. I didn't understand why Bakugou was suddenly like this.
"Thanks for the food!" Everyone yelled. I looked down at the mess on our plates. It really didn't look that good, let alone taste good, but we were so drained that we didn't care. Everyone immediately started stuffing their faces at a fast rate, even me and Shouto who were taught to have extremely good manners. After getting part of our energy back, everyone settled down into calm chatting and conversation. The evening air was calm and slightly warm. There was a slight breeze that seemed to give off cleaner air, seeing as we were in a forested area. Soon, our plates were completely clean. As we washed our plates, our conversations continued, but everyone was getting more tired than before. We slowly dragged ourselves to the bathing area, but this time, it wasn't as joyous as the day before. We were in and out within a couple minutes as the steam had made us drowsy. Before long, the girls were in our room, and we had decided to play a small card game. In the end, we all fell asleep still holding our cards. I'm pretty sure I lost."Ahhh!" I ended up yelling after trying not to for the past few hours. The pain was so much. I could even feel my insides burning, not only my skin. I stood in the same place as yesterday, blasting out the highest temperature I could create. I was even on the verge of crying, but I didn't want to appear as weak. I'm sure everyone else wanted to cry, but they're all strong minded. I need to be like them. Instead, I clenched my teeth hard, trying not to scream any more than I was. I could feel my flames dropping in temperature. I couldn't keep up with this intense heat wielding around me.
"Don't lose focus," I heard Aizawa say as he walked near us, "all of you, move faster! No matter what you're doing, you should always be aware of where you came from. That's what it means to improve. Always keep in mind why you're sweating, and why you keep getting nagged." As the flames continued to shoot out of me, I kept his words circulating my mind. Where I came from. I glanced over at Shouto who had ice forming on his face. With that in mind, it only pushed us to work harder. It seemed right, especially hearing those words. We then heard a cat-like giggle. We turned and saw Pixie Bob sitting on a pile of boxes. I turned down the heat of my flames so I could hear her.
"More importantly, everyone, tonight," she yelled, her arm outstretched, "we'll have a test of courage with the classes pitted against each other! After training hard, you can play hard! The carrot and the stick! So, do your best right now!"
"Yessir!" everyone yelled, pausing briefly to listen to Pixie Bob. With that, everyone continued to work hard, half excited for the activity later on in the day. I soon began to feel my skin burning, making me instantly panic. I felt weak as the flames started to calm down around me. I glanced at Shouto with scared eyes, which he instantly caught. He quickly formed ice around his bath, as well as myself with covering half of my body. The coolness calmed my skin down as the shivers went up my spine, but it was relieving. I felt a small smile as I extended the temperature of my flames, nodding my head to thank Shouto for helping me.
