We all silently walked down a lot of streets, led by Momo as she carefully watched the receiver. It felt like hours had gone by, but soon, Momo paused as she held her back against a wall, staring at a dark building.
"This is the spot the receiver is showing," she sternly said.
"So that's their hideout..." mumbled Kirishima, "it really looks like one!"
"I don't know if it's their hideout or not, but from what I can see on the receiver, the villain has not left here for the past day," Momo explained, "also, just because that villain is here, does not mean Bakugou is." I felt my heart drop in disappointment. "We are here with very little to go on. Please think about that objectively."
"We don't have anyone who excels at sneaking around, like Jiro or Hagakre, with us," said Iida, "if I think it's even the least bit dangerous, I will stop you immediately. Because I am your friend, I will not hesitate to call the police, either."
"Thanks, Iida," mumbled Midoriya, "what can we do with what we have...? I've gotta think." He then started to mumble and mutter to himself, as what he was known for. "The prerequisite is that we not use our Quirks or fight with the villains. On top of that, we need to figure out if Kacchan is in that building or not. Like Iida said, we don't have anyone with good scouting Quirk, like Jiro or Shoji, so..." As Midoriya thought, the rest of us stared at him, a little giggly and slightly scared of him when he begins to mutter like this. As time went on, we stood near a vending machine so we didn't look suspicious. I stood with my back against the wall, staring intensely at the dark house. I hated the fact that Bakugou might be only inches away and I couldn't go in and save him. I carefully analysed every corner of the house, looking for any signs of movement as the rest of the group continued muttering to themselves.
"There's no reaction even though we've gotten this close," Momo whispered.
"The lights aren't on, either. It doesn't look like anyone's in there," Kirishima added.
"To hide a tree, use the forest..." I mumbled to myself, still continuing to stare at the house. Shouto nodded and turned to the group.
"I would guess they're hiding as an abandoned warehouse," Shouto explained.
"The weeds under the front door are pretty thick," Midoriya analysed, "is there another way in or out? Has it been camouflaged using someone's Quirk? We can't do anything reckless, like enter carelessly. We have to see what's inside somehow-"
"Hey, what're ya doin', hostess?" yelled someone. We froze and saw two drunk men approach me and Momo. "Come drink wit' us!" His friend slapped the back of his head.
"Stop that, idiot!" he drunkly said. Midoriya and Iida proceeded to act like their personas, doing a terrible job at them. I felt Shouto grab my arm as he pulled me away with annoyance in his voice.
"Let's get away from here for now," he said, pulling me back behind an alleyway. I pulled Momo with me to help her get away from those men. She quietly thanked me, and the group gathered to where me and Shouto were now stationed. "There aren't many people walking by, but there are some," Shouto said to the group.
"We can't do anything to stand out," Momo said, "what should we do?" Midoriya looked away and back at the house.
"Let's try going around the back," he said, "no matter how little information we have on this place, it's all we've got." We all agreed and carefully snuck near the side of the house, and started to squeeze past the walls dividing the location to the other houses. Momo held my arm as I felt her shake slightly.
"This is very narrow," she breathed, "I feel like I will get stuck." I pulled her as close as I could, giving her reassurance that she'll be fine.
"We can't move until we know for sure it's safe," Midoriya explained, "no one will see us here, and at that height, we should be able to see inside, too!" He gestured at a barred window that wasn't too far for us to look through.
"Will we be able to see anything in this darkness?" questioned Shouto.
"I can make a night vision scope-" Momo started to say, but Kirishima stopped her.
"Wait, Yaoyorozu!" he said, and fumbled his hand in his pocket, "actually, I brought one with me..."
"Wow, why?" asked Midoriya.
"When I thought about what we'd have to do, I thought we'd need it," he said, his face scrunched up in anger.
"Isn't it really expensive?" I asked, noticing how his face and tone had changed.
"I doesn't matter! Let's not talk about it!" Kirishima said, quite roughly.
"Okay, then Kirishima and Homura, you two look through it," said Shouto, "Iida and I will carry you on our shoulders." Shouto took my arm and he crouched down to lift me on his shoulders. I felt the walls against my face as I tried to get up on him.
"It's so cramped..." I strained, getting close to the top of the wall.
"Don't lean forward too much," Iida said to Kirishima, "I want to make sure we can run the second we think it's dangerous."
"Iida, can you move back a little?" Kirishima asked, and his head poked over the edge.
"Tell us what you see," said Shouto as my head came over the edge.
"Kirishima, what's inside?" Iida asked. Kirishima looked inside the scopes, and I tried my best to look inside, resisting to use my fire as a light source.
"It's just dirty..." Kirishima replied, "I don't really see anything..." suddenly, Kirishima froze, almost falling backwards in shock. I held his arm to stop him front moving too much.
"What's wrong? What can you see, Kirishima?!" Shouto harshly whispered.
"In the back on the left...!" Kirishima said, violently shaking as he handed me the scopes, "Todoroki, look in the back on the left!" I took the scopes and scanned the area. He was right when he said it was dirty. I saw so much junk lying around that I couldn't pinpoint what they were. I started to scan where Kirishima had told me to look, but someone caught my eye, making me freeze in horror. I saw huge tanks with wires and pipes stuck inside the cases. I saw something floating in the centre of the water. It was round and lumpy, and my heart sped up in fear as I got a closer look.
"No way..." I breathed, hardly getting the courage to speak, "are those... all... Nomu?!" I felt myself tense up, fearful of what I was seeing. To think there were more than just the ones we had seen. To think this was where they were being kept. I just couldn't believe it. Suddenly, we heard several explosions happening near us. We all froze, looking around.
"Have they seen us?" Kirishima asked. We didn't see anything else.
"Do you think that's Bakugou fighting?" I asked, gripping the edge of the wall tightly. However, Kirishima tapped my arm impatiently.
"Hey!" he said, and pointed to the right. We saw a truck being lifted up, and a familiar purple outfit.
"That's...!" I started to say but heard another explosion of her hitting the building near us. A blast of air hit us with intense force. We all collapsed from the sudden blast. I hit the ground with such force that I even forgot where I was for a couple seconds. After a while, the air calmed down. Shouto helped me up, asking if I was okay. This time, Kirishima and Momo looked inside the barred window.
"Mt. Lady and Gang Orca... and even the number four hero, Best Jeanist?" Kirishima said, shocked at what he was seeing.
"Mr. Tiger is there, too!" Momo exclaimed. Kirishima and Momo came down to the ground, and Iida sighed in relief.
"The heroes were already moving way before we were!" he said, smiling joyfully.
"Wow...!" Kirishima breathed.
"Now, let us fall back immediately," Iida said, "there's nothing left for us to do now."
"Since Mt. Lady said 'with All Might,' does that mean Kacchan is there, too?" Midoriya mumbled. My attention turned to him.
"If All Might is there, then there's even more reason to rest easy," Momo reassured, "now, hurry!" We all started to move away, but I felt myself stop. I felt something... unusual. I felt... dark and strange. Midoriya stopped as he was behind me.
"Todoroki?" he said. Not looking at him, I turned around, feeling myself tense up with so much force. Something felt off. I heard footsteps echo throughout my ears. I heard the low grumble of a man's voice. I could hear my own heartbeat thumping through my chest. I felt my breath quicken like my throat had closed up entirely. I felt Shouto's hand touch my shoulder. That's when I turned to him. My eyes felt red and wide. My skin developed goosebumps. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't move. I could only managed to say two words.
