School was closed. Meaning... I did nothing. I laid on my bed the rest of the day. Shouto did too. Neither one of us wanted to move. I didn't know about him, but every time I closed my eyes, I saw those deadly eyes staring at me from that foggy mist. I may want to be a hero one day, and it's seems foolish to be afraid, but those eyes felt so unreal that it frightened me. School was closed because of the USJ attack. I'm guessing the pro heroes had to sort the media and schedules before the students could interfere. Usually, if we had a day off, me and Shouto would go out or train, but we felt too tired and unmotivated. It was for the best. Our siblings held us tightly when we arrived home that day, made us food and kept a close eye on us. I appreciated it, but it seemed like Shouto didn't really mind it. He's the kind of person who doesn't really have an emotional side. I feel like he's more open to me more than anyone, but even so, he'll still act less emotional than anyone else. I once called him a robot when we were younger, and he almost buried me alive in the garden. But I don't blame him. He's had it hard from the start, so it's like all his emotions have been sucked out of him.
The next day came too slowly. On our way to school, the news was the only thing we heard. The event was so big that it was the only thing people talked about. Shouto and I didn't really talk about it, but deep down inside, I felt a little uneasy having this much attention fall on me and my classmates. Either way, it couldn't be helped. As me and Shouto entered our classroom, everyone else was talking about the way the news broadcasted about the attack. Not saying a word, we took out usual seats and waited for homeroom to start, occasionally eavesdropping on everyone's conversations. The door soon slowly opened.
"Morning," mumbled a muffled voice. I peered over and my eyes widened slightly. Aizawa was covered in bandages. I couldn't see a single bit of skin. Not even his eyes were showing.
"Aizawa Sensei, you're back too soon!" yelled everyone.
"So you're all right, Aizawa Sensei?" asked Iida.
"My well-being doesn't matter," he mumbled, slowly making his way to the front of the class, "Most importantly, the fight is not yet over. The UA sports festival is drawing near." Everyone yelled in excitement and relief.
"That's a normal school event-" started Kirishima but Kaminari's hand stopped him from talking.
"Wait a minute," he said.
"Is it okay to have a sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?" asked Jirou.
"What if they attack us again or something?" asked Ojiro.
"Apparently, they think of it as a UA showing," replied Aizawa, "that our crisis management system is solid as a rock by holding the event. Security will also be strengthened to five times that of previous years. Above all, our sports festival is a huge chance. It's not an event to be cancelled because of a few villains. Our sports festival is one of Japan's biggest events. In the past, the Olympics were called a festival of sports and the whole country was crazy about them. As you know, as reductions in scale and population, they're now a shell of their former glory. And now, for Japan, what has taken the place of those Olympics is the UA sports festival! Of course, joining a famous hero agency will get you more experience and popularity. Time is limited. If you expect to go pro, then the path to your future will open up at this event. One chance a year, a total of just three chances. No aspiring hero can afford to miss this event. If you understand that, then don't slack off on your preparations!"
After that speech, we were dismissed. Regular classes were carried out, and it was soon lunchtime. I gathered up my books, making some final notes for studying and homework. I caught up with Shouto who was waiting for me.
"Are you a little excited for the sports festival?" I asked him. We started walking to the cafeteria. He was silent for a moment.
"In a way, yes," he said. I raised an eyebrow.
"In a way?" I asked. He was silent again.
"In a way," he repeated, "I'm looking forward to it as we get to release our full potential. However," he drooped his head a little, "everyone will notice me as Endeavor's son, as well as you as his daughter. As Aizawa said, this will be a chance for heroes to give us an internship for a week, but they won't see me or you, even. They'll see him. It sounds bad that I'm putting it out on you, but it's the honest truth. Because of that," he looked at his left hand, "I won't even think about using my left side during this sports festival." I listened to every detail, then it was my turn to fall silent. After a while, I put my hand on his shoulder.
"If that's what you want to do, then do it!" I said, smiling at him, "either way, I bet you're still do well. Just don't let him drag you down. Remember, you're your own person. Show that through this festival." He looked at me a little surprised as I beamed up at him. By this time, we were in the cafeteria. Before he said anything, I gave a serious look. "I'm starving so I'm gonna get some food and you get us a table, okay?" I smiled one more time, then left him. I waited in line, and soon came face to face with Lunch Rush. I ordered my food, and when it came, I went over to Shouto, who had grabbed us our usual table. As he left to order his food, I began to eat slowly. As I looked up, I spotted Bakugou walking across the cafeteria with food in his hands. As I glanced at them, I felt a sudden warm sensation in my hands. I remembered when our skin made contact and I suddenly felt my heart beat hard. I didn't understand why. I mean, I'm sure anyone would do that to each other... right?
"Homura," said Shouto, breaking me out of my thoughts.
"Mm?" I said, glancing up at him. He had a serious face, but something about this one was a bit different.
"I heard something odd," he said, staring at me while slowing eating his food. I raised an eyebrow at him. "Midoriya Izuku... and All Might..." he said slowly, coming closer to me so only I could hear him.
"What about them?" I asked.
"I overheard Uraraka and Iida talking," he said, "it seemed like All Might asked to see Midoriya, and apparently it happens a lot. But then they said that Tsu commented that Midoriya's Quirk was like All Might's." I stared deep into his eyes, processing all this information. Midoriya and All Might? I brought my back against the back of my chair, placing my chin in between my fingers.
"Mm," I said. Shouto stared at me patiently. Whenever I did that pose, it meant I was thinking really hard about the situation, and I didn't want to be distracted.
"Midoriya came last on the first 8 tests we did here," I said slowly and quietly, still thinking but speaking my mind to Shouto, "it seemed like any normal test we did in Middle School. However, he showed his power during that ball throwing one, but he seemed to injure himself. The same happened during his fight with Bakugou. Whenever he shows his power, two things happen. One, he only shows it once. Two, he ends up breaking himself." I looked up at Shouto. "It's like he can't control it and only uses it at necessary moments. But I still don't understand how they relate. Sure, they have the same kind of power, but so do we in a way. Plus, All Might is the number one hero who knows how to control his Quirk, while Midoriya doesn't." When I finished speaking, it was Shouto's turn to be quiet.
"Mm," he said, "I guess I misread it." He began to eat his food without another word. I stared at him for a bit, then started eating. This is strange. I wonder why Shouto is suddenly getting interested in Midoriya.
