Case work

I arrive back at the navy yard and make my way into the bull pen where the rest of the team are sitting bar Ziva and obviously the director.

"Where is Ziva?" Gibbs asks.

"Got out and decided to walk back." I reply sitting down at my desk.

"What?" Tony asks.

"I don't know. Ask her?" I reply a little frustrated still.

"Megan can you take this down to Abby, check in with her on the evidence and catch up." Gibbs tells me.

I go over to his desk and try to take the piece of paper from his hand but he is holding on tightly probably waiting for me to say 'ok Boss' or something of that nature but instead I just pull harder and end up ripping it in half but I take my half and run it down to Abby.

"Hey Abby, I've got this for you. Any idea what it is?" I ask handing over the torn piece of paper.

"Looks like a phone number but there are 2 digits missing if it is." Abby tells me.

"Think that might be my fault, kind of tore it. Gibbs has the other part, don't ask." I reply.

"Right I'll call him." She smiles pressing the button on her little monitor.

The two talk for longer than strictly necessary but then this was Abby when did she ever just talk about the thing she actually needed you for.

"You alright?" Abby asked as I stood quietly watching the computer.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I lie.

"It's not like you not to talk to Gibbs, what's happened?" Abby questions.

"Nothing, I guess I just didn't have anything to add." I reply.

"he was asking about the evidence you brought in. He wants you back upstairs as well." Abby tells me.

"Right, must have been to busy watching this to hear him." I say before walking out of Abby's lab and making my way back up to the bull pen.

"Right now you're both here why don't you tell us what you found out from the base and CO." Gibbs tells us.

"Emmerson was the model officer no conflicts, looked out for everybody. He transferred over two months ago. His CO says he didn't have any enemies and was looking at a promotion." I explain.

"The promotion was was postponed to give Emmerson a fair chance, I spoke to many officers that mentioned this was a little unfair but most of them were concerned for the officer who was leaving as he was asked to stay another month. However petty officer Ryan seemed fixated on it, wouldn't talk about anything else and seemed to think he didn't deserve the position since he was new." Ziva Adds.

"Right Mcgee look at Ryan's service record, background, phone and bank records. Ziva, Megan look further into the other service records anything out of the ordinary. Dinozzo you and me talking with his parents Dorgnegats just put them in the conference room." Gibbs gives out the orders.

I'm starting to think Gibbs keeps pairing us together for a reason but I don't see why he would do that knowing that I don't trust her and that she brings back bad memories from the shooting.

We both go through all the service records on our computers, it would be quicker to do half and half but neither one of us had spoken to the other so that wasn't going to work out well.

"what have you found?" Ziva asks after we have been working for an hour or so.

"3 men have previous." I reply bluntly.

"Wilks, Harrow and Kane." She queries and I nod.

Gibbs comes back up and Ziva explains what we found.

"Megan, what you got?" Gibbs asks and I ignore him he calls my name a few times so I look up from my desk and stare at him.

"What you got?" He ask and then I look straight back down at my desk.

I can hear him giving out orders while I stare at my computer not looking up at him since he's probably in a bad mood now. Then he tells me to go with him to autopsy and I quickly get up and follow him.

We step in to the elevator and as soon as we started moving Gibbs flicked the switch which made us stop and all power goes off in the lift.

"What was that about?" Gibbs asks me.

"Why aren't you talking to me?" Gibbs then asks.

"Why don't you keep pairing me up with Ziva? Because you don't listen do you I told you I couldn't work with her that it brought back to many memories but you always think you know best." I rant.

"If you work with Ziva then you will learn how to trust her." Gibbs tells me flicking the switch on the elevator so it starts moving again. I promptly switch it back off which leaves Gibbs looking a bit confused.

"You don't get it, do you. In here..." I say pointing to my head. "Ari is still alive and him and Ziva are working together to kill us all. I'm getting help you know I am but just because you shove us together doesn't mean it's going to change over night. Okay." I practically shout out him before flipping the switch and we arrive just outside autopsy.
