MARIA
9:47 am; Monday- Midtown Highschool"Hello, hello you wonderful apes I call my students! I have amazing news for you all!"
I sigh, as I fall further down in the large sit of mine. I lean my face on my fist and watch the science teacher ramble further on.
Science was never really my thing, it seemed pretty simple to me. Mr. Wade was a great teacher though, his accent amused me daily. He kind of reminded me of Santa Claus in a way.
"So for this week, we will be working on a project with an assigned partner!" The whole class groaned while Mr. Wade didn't seem to care. He was used to it I suppose.
I could hear whispers surrounding me about the deal, while I just grew sad realizing Ashtyn wasn't in this class with me. No chances of being with my best friend for the project.
"SHUSH!" Mr. Wade snapped, as he put a wrinkly elegant finger to his mouth. Everybody instantly shut up and viewed the old man as he grabbed stapled pieces of paper.
"This project will be about a source of power. You and your partner will have to have a visual, and talk about the source." He began handing the papers down the aisles, as I received a paper tossed back behind Michelle in front of my head. I skimmed the paper to see all the requirements. Luckily, there weren't that many, but I still would have to work.
"We won't be starting today but I'll be assigning partners. You can have a brief talk to them about what you both are planning to do as well before the bell rings," he said, before grabbing another sheet of paper off his desk. I saw names listed clearly in groups of two on the backside.
"Get with your partner once I read your names. First off is Flash and Kade." I heard a cheer from a few sits over, which obviously were Kade and Flash. I frowned, why do they get to be together?
"Okay next is..."
Mr. Wade continued to go through the list. There were cheers from some, groans from some, and no response from some students. Whether it was a groan or a cheer from the pairing to work together, Mr. Wade seemed to care less. He just continued on.
"Ned and Michelle."
Ned cheered, which I feel like he would do to anybody that was his partner. Michelle, the girl sitting in front of me, remained unamused and emotionless. She always acted like that though, so I couldn't tell what she thought.
"Last but not least, Peter and Maria."
My heart jumped when he said our names together. I didn't necessarily care, but I found it ironic how we just happened to be together.
"Get started!" Mr. Wade yelled, even though the chattering amongst partners already was filling the air.
I looked over at Peter, who offered me a small smile in return. I grabbed my belongings and walked over to his desk. I pulled a sit up to be across him and didn't hesitate to sit down and plop my stuff on the floor.
"Hello Peter," I say, as I take out a notebook and pen.
"Hey," he said, as a small smile filled his face again. He kept his eyes on me as I unpacked.
