(Y/n)'s POV

The car ride back home was quiet, and PJ had taken it upon himself to sit in the middle between Dan and I. Sophie had to attend to some things, but as I expected she was extremely nice. I learned she stayed in the penthouse most of the time, but had a flat in case her and PJ were to ever have kids. They wouldn't want the young ones running around. I imagine Dan would have a fit if he even saw a child let alone had to live with one. When we arrived back to the home, Dan made his way up to his office immediately while the others sat to converse. I excused myself up to his office.

I was going to make my point clear that he could fire me if he wanted to, but I was in no way at all going to do anything besides work. I'd also apologize for flirting earlier, as I was confused on how to handle it. I'd just have to sound business like, very serious. When I arrived and I knocked, a voice rang out.

"What is it?"

"Can we speak for a moment?" There was a pause and a shuffle and the door opened. Dan had already made himself at home, buried in papers and files. The top buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned and his suit jacket had been draped over the chair in the corner of his office. His sleeves were uncuffed and he looked the most casual I had ever seen him. He stepped aside to let me in and closed the door, walking around me to his seat.

"Take a seat," he motioned to one of the chairs in front of his desk.

"No, I'm making this short and to the point. I'd just like to make myself clear that I am here, only to work. The flirting earlier was unnecessary and the wrong way to assert myself which I now realize and I have no intention of doing anything but be your worker. If you'd like to fire me because of that, that's fine with me." He chucked and stretched his back against the chair.

"(Y/n), I'm not going to fire you," he said. "But that doesn't mean I'm changing my stance towards you."

"That's fine, just keep in mind that I have no intention of sleeping with you," I said and he tended, standing up slowly.

"I see, you may do what you want and don't what you do not want, but I believe that it would only be fair if the same rules applied to me would it not?"  He walked behind me and I turned so that my back was to the desk.

"It would," I replied and he approached.

"So you must keep in mind that I have no intention to stop any sort of flirting towards you." I made eye contact with him and I felt my stomach burn.

"That's fine, I just hope you know it won't get you very far," I said. I brushed past him and out the door of his office to my own. So he wouldn't stop his flirting, that's something I can handle, and now he knows where I stand.

Would that be more motivation to change my mind? Had I just made it worse for myself. I pulled out my key and put it in my door, unlocking it.

"Goodnight (y/n)," I glanced to my left where Dan was opening his door.

"Goodnight Mr. Howell."

My door was locked and I slept rather peacefully now that I got that weight off my chest. I still had another few weighing me down, but I could deal with that later. When I woke, I began to get ready, taking a shower and cleaning myself up for the day out with Phil.

It was so nice of him to invite me out like this, and taking into consideration my limited relationship to the city it would be a really cool experience. I changed into a pair of sailor pants and a striped shirt. I felt much more comfortable wearing pants especially since I would be walking around with Phil.

I walked down the stairs and saw Chris sat reading the newspaper. He glanced up at the sound of me and smiled before turning back to his paper. Chris had slightly warmed up to me and he wasn't trying to hit on me as much anymore. The few times he did Mr. Howell made it clear that Chris would loose his head for it. He tended to be possessive like that.

"Chris have you seen Phil?"

"He was with Howell last I saw him," he replied and I sighed.

"Thank you." I headed into the kitchen where there were a few workers doing their jobs. The lady from yesterday morning, who I had taken a liking to approached me.

"Would you like breakfast Miss (l/n)?"

"Oh, yes please and you can call me (y/n), it's nice to meet you..." I paused for her name and she seemed to be confused.

"Oh, uh, Macie." She filled in the blank and I smiled.

"Macie." She smiled and handed me a plate with pancakes on it. I sat down at the counter across from where she was working. "How did you get a job like this?"

"There was an ad in the paper," she said and I nodded.

"How did you?"

"Phil noticed me in a bar and just offered me a job, I'm surprised I'm not doing something like you," I said and she nodded.

"It's quite admirable seeing a woman like you doing things like Mr. Howell," she said and I smiled.

"Thank you," I said, taking a bite of my food.

"You do know you can eat in the dining room right?"

"Yes, but I quite like it in here, it's nicer to have more people around when you've been alone in such a big place." She seemed to understand what I was trying to say and we talked for the majority of breakfast. "I'd like to stay and chat, but I have to find Phil."

"Have a nice day Miss...(y/n)," she said and I smiled and waved to her. I checked in the dining room and there was no one there and then I decided to check in Phil's room. I approached his door and paused when I heard chatter from inside. Being curious like I am, I pressed my ear to the wood and listened intently.

"Do you think she's doing a good job?"

"Adequate at best."

"Dan."

"It's the truth, we'll see how she does tomorrow morning."

"We can't bring her to that!"

"Phil, we both know that if she wants to keep this job, she needs to come."

"You're not making her..."

"No, that's my job, like always, she just has to come with, understand?"

"I understand."

Wasn't he not going to fire me? What was so important tomorrow morning that I had to come with? What was going to happen? I heard footsteps and I hurried to my door, pretending to be exiting.

"(Y/n)! There you are, are you ready?" I turned, slipping my key into my pocket and putting on a smile.

"Of course, where to first?"

Stay awesome!
