Hello!!

Enjoy~

(Y/n)'s POV

I stood idly beside Macie while she worked, helping her when I could. I was just leaning up against the wall when she turned to me.

"You're being awfully close this evening," she commented and I nodded.

"It's just, Joe has been quite nice to me today, and Dan doesn't seem to take that lightly."

"He never takes anything lightly," she said, handing me two plates.

"I know, but I feel bad, like I should be here. They're friends right? And if I'm such a problem--"

"That's really not it, and we both know that," she said, taking one plate and filling it with food.

"Well," I paused glancing at the door connecting the dining room to the kitchen. "He just--we had a discussion earlier about our whole relationship type, thing, and now he's starting to get possessive. Joe's only being polite."

"In understand, but we both know you'll step on Mr. Howell's toes before he can step on yours. You lead," she said, handing me the second full plate.

Hmm.

"Thanks."

"No problem," she said. I smiled and took to two plates as she followed behind me. I set the two plates I had in front of Phil and Joe as they were sat by each other, Joe in my usual spot. I took the seat to Dan's left, in PJ's usual spot, next to the head of the table. Macie left probably to head home for the evening as she was done with all she had to do.

"Looks good, did you make this?" Joe asked.

"Oh no, all Macie, I just like helping her," I said.

"Though (y/n), you are an excellent cook, you've made me dinner before," Dan said.

"That was spaghetti."

"Still, you did such a good job," he complimented. Seeing as Dan was the type of person who would forget he needed water to boil noodles, I guess it was an accomplishment.

"I'd love to taste your cooking," Joe said.

"No really I'm not that g--"

"I'm sure she could whip something up the next time you're here," Dan said.

"What? I just said I'm not that g--"

"I'd love that."

Is no one listening to me?! I only rolled my eyes and just began to eat.

"What do you like to cook?" Joe asked and I opened my mouth to answer, now that he was finally addressing me.

"She must love to cook spaghetti," Dan joked and I put my fork on my plate picking it up.

"I have something to do, good night." I took my plate out of the dining room and headed up to my own. Maybe I'd just sort through my books or something, but I was done with that dinner and anything else.

I shut my door and collapsed into my chair with a breath. Was this me leading? Maybe not, but I just don't want to deal with it anymore. I yawned slightly and placed more food on my fork. I glanced at my messy shelves and decided maybe this could be my excuse. Once I finished, I started picking up my novels, putting them in alphabetical order. I yawned again and a knock on my door interrupted it. I shut my mouth quickly.

"Come in!" I placed the next book to the shelf. Phil poked his head in.

"We're putting on a fire, if you wanted to come and chat."

"Chat or be interrupted?" I said and he let out a sigh.

"So that IS why you left."

"Oh no, no, sorting my books is vitally important right now," I said and he let out a breath and a slight smile.

"You coming or not?"

"Mmm I think my books need me," I said.

"Alright, have fun with your books," he replied.

"I will."

"I expect nonetheless."

Not even 5 minutes after Phil left, I was interrupted by a knock at the door again.

"Yes?" I called, putting a book on the shelf.

"Why are you downstairs? Phil said you're too busy with books."

"I mean, clearly," I said, holding up a book for Dan to see. He frowned.

"That's what you had to do during dinner?"

"They were calling to me," I said.

"I see."

"I mean, I wasn't talking at dinner anyways, I might as well have come up here," I replied.

"You talked."

"Oh really?" I countered, placing a hand on my hip. "What's one thing I said?" He paused. "To busy interrupting me hmm?"

"What?"

"No, no, I get it, you're jealous of Joe is all, want to get the last word in, but you couldn't have let me have one?"

"I'm not!"

"Mmhmm," I said, placing another book in its place. I seemed to be relying on my sarcastic side this evening.

"Well, I apologize if I didn't let you talk."

"Thank you."

"So would you like to come down?"

"To what? Your level? Because I can't stoop that low."

"Oh, ouch, that just hurt," he said clutching his chest and I stifled a giggle. "No, you just enjoy your books. I guess you love them more than me."

"Yeah, they just get me you know?" I smiled and he smiled back, shutting my door for me. I sighed, pressing a book to my chest before sliding into the last open space.

I glanced at the pile of books still on the floor.

Well shit.
