(Y/n)'s POV

Soft droplets of sweat rested at the surface of my neck, my coat still wrapped tightly around me. I wouldn't dare to take it off now. Dan sat, sunken into an ottoman, his elbows dug uncomfortably into his knees, the soft flesh giving way underneath his trousers. The pads of his fingers pulled at the skin of his face, his head turned downwards and away from me.

"Where did you go?" He asked again, the fire licking up at the top of the fireplace. I didn't answer, as I didn't have one. I couldn't explain this to him, after all that I did for so long. The thought of Dan kicking me out made my heart beat erratically in my chest. He was still my boss. "Where?!"

"You wouldn't get it."

"Oh really now? Is that what you're going with? What is it? You're cheating on me? After I took you in? Sat by your bedside blaming myself after the fire? What?" He asked and my face hardened.

"I did it for you."

"Did what?"

"I've been in contact with one of Andrea's workers. I've been keeping tabs on her, that's all," I replied. Dan stared at me incredulously.

"You've got to be kidding me."

"I'm tired of letting her walk all over us!" I said and he scoffed.

"Don't you realize the danger you could've gotten into?! You could've been killed, over something so childish. Don't you hear yourself? I've never seen something so immature from you," he said. I felt the fire blazing up in my chest.

"I'm not just sitting around idly while she digs you a grave Dan. I can't watch it happen. I have done everything for you, come to work for you, forgiven you for all the shit that has happened with Andrea. I do everything for you, because I love you," I said, my eyes stinging.

"Obviously not. You don't trust my judgement or respect the fact I want to protect your safety. You lie to me and keep secrets you can't trust me with."

"Because you don't understand why I do these things out of love," I spat back. He stood, towering over me, a hard look on his face. I stood up to hold my own.

"And what do you plan to do with all this information all by yourself. Get yourself killed?" He asked. He glanced to my jacket where the blueprints lay. He reached out for them and I stepped back indignantly. "Give them to me."

"No."

"You're doing this because you love me, but you can't even let me see what you've been doing. Seriously (y/n), you're just being immature now," he said. He grasped the edges of my jacket, pulling me towards him and pulling the paper from my pocket. I fought back but he shoved me aside to the couch, where I stumbled back.

I watched him unfold it and he looked at it for a moment. His eyebrows furrowed at me, a disappointed look on his face.

"Blueprints?"

"For a building, she's expanding. That's valuable information," I said, standing up and brushing down my dress. He threw it aside and shook his head walking away from me.

"I cannot believe you."

"You can't just stand there and patronize me."

"It's hard not to when you're acting like a child. How could you not come to me with concerns? Instead you went behind my back. You don't trust me."

"I—"

"No you don't. Save it. You are to stop meeting with whoever is provide you with this information."
