(Y/n)'s POV

"Woah Phil, slow down!" I called and he slowed his pace as I followed after him.

"Here, this will help, plus we're passing by that group of guys," Phil said, curling his hand around mine. We passed by the group of men and they didn't bother me. Phil turned a corner and led me into a park. We just walked hand in hand through the foliage.

"I never really properly thanked you for the job, so thank you," I said.

"It's no problem. It's nice to have you around because you're so caring. I heard you met Macie."

"Yeah."

"Dan doesn't even know her name," he said and I frowned. He hired her and forgot her name? How rude.

"He's a busy man I guess," I said. "It's really beautiful here."

"I come here a lot just to get away from the city," he said, stopping along a bridge, looking at the pond. He watched a leaf that had turned yellow fall into the pond and sink. "I'd like to think I can just leave all my guilt here."

"What do you mean?"

"Sometimes we don't do the best things, and I try not to think about it and the best thing I can do it's just..." he paused and picked up a leave resting under his shoe. "...come here to let it go."

He let go of the leaf and it floated to the water and sank to the bottom after soaking with water. I watched the water ripple slightly and I rest my head on Phil's arm.

"I understand," I said, and we stood there for a moment. We were quiet for a while until I heard a rustle and I stepped back from Phil, his arm tugging with mine slightly and he looked over at me. "Do you feel like you're being watched?"

I glanced around and there was nothing but trees and plants surrounding the pond, a surprisingly dense little forest in the middle of the city. There were no people.

"Let's just go, we can get soda or something," he said, pulling me back the way we came. It wasn't unlikely Dan sent someone after us, and the thought made me angry. It's not like we were out on a date. I glanced down at our hands as Phil walked slightly ahead of me. It might seem like it. Does Phil think it's a date?

"Wait, this isn't a date right?" I asked, pulling slightly at Phil's arm. He glanced down at our hands and pulled his away.

"Oh no, sorry," he said, stuffing his hand in his pocket. There was another rustle and I just hurried out of the park with Phil. Our next stop was the drug store for soda. Phil ordered for us and I sat waiting for him. A man entered and walked up to the counter to order. He was holding a newspaper and looked oddly familiar.
