Kyoa was the only one of the three to show up for the meeting. After they lost their powers Ishi and Hizume seemed to shut down. Like the world had hit them and they didn’t have the strength to stand back up. “Shuji Ran disappeared; ever since the battle many other squad members have confronted him and lost their swords. It seems he is striking at random.” The head captain bellowed. “Well how are we supposed to stop him if he is attacking at random?” Soifon asked. Byakuya was silent. It was strange. The air was tense but few words were being exchanged. And Hizume wasn’t there to soothe the others and Ishi wasn’t there to set it off. Renji and Toshiro both looked horrible... They felt horrible. Renji remembered how long Hizume cried, almost four times every day now. Ishi had withdrawn from Toshiro and went into hiding, locked in her room. No amount of coaxing would get her out. “SO what are we to do? He’s attacking at random?” Soifon sighed. “That’s what he’d want you to believe.” A cold voice said. Ishi stood looking her age. Hair a mess, face gray and tear stained. It seemed every loss was thrown back at her and she wasn’t able to cope. Her aura was cold and dull not fiery and bright as it should be. Toshiro reached out. “Ishi.” He said.
She ignored him. “Shuji is doing this for Aizen. Aizen seeing how well he can use it will probably try to make you THINK Shuji is on rampage. No he’s biding time and strength. Then he’ll attack and take your powers.” Her voice was dull as though she decided that it was time to grow up. Only it was concerning and frightening. She turned. “I need to rest. I’ve been sick for a while. Don’t you guys lose your powers I don’t know how we’d stand a chance then.” She said moving slowly. “Ishi!” Toshiro said. Ishi paused. “Just leave me alone Hitsuguya.” Then she kept walking. Toshiro froze. Hitsuguya, not Toshiro. She used his last name not his first. His hands fell to his side as his eyes widened. Ishi shut him out completely. The doors closed behind her the resounding clack echoing as everyone finally understood, without Kori Ishi was nothing. She’d always been a soul reaper; her brother was a soul reaper. No being on is like dying. They could only guess what Hizume was going through.

Hizume quit crying there was no point in it any more. She didn’t go see Ishi. She knew Ishi was very unstable right now. To even mention zanpakuto or other soul reaper things around her would set her off. Hizume heard Renji walk it. She turned and smiled a little. “Hi Renji,” she said. Renji looked at her. This was the first she’d spoken in five days. He hugged her. She hugged back. “Renji what am I going to do? My life is here. As a soul reaper. But if I’m not a soul reaper I can’t live here anymore.” She said. “It’ll be alright.” Renji promised. Hizume felt her eyes tear. It won’t be alright. It can’t be alright. Everything was breaking. Her bond with Ishi, their bond with the soul reapers, their ties to life. Renji told Hizume what happened with Ishi. Hizume felt her eyes widen. “Ishi….” She breathed. The name used to give her happiness. Now it gave her worry. What would Ishi do next? There was no telling as Renji and Hizume went for a walk, the first breath of fresh air Hizume had had in days. She walked holding Renji’s hand tightly. Would Yama-sama kick her and Ishi out? And Kyoa?
Kyoa had only had Arumafuroru for a few weeks so letting go was easy. But it was still horrible around without him on her hip. Haku had been very supportive and tried to make her laugh. “Have you spoken with Ishi lately?” Kyoa asked already knowing the answer. Haku’s smile dropped and he shook his head. No one had spoken to the small girl. Toshiro had become more saddened at her abandonment. But he went on with his life. Only thing was, no one knew if Ishi had cut off all ties with him completely or not. Kyoa hoped not.

Ishi knew she was being cruel but she couldn’t help it. She was so confused. She thought it best to make up to Toshiro first. She slowly moved. Without Kori brushing her leg and her weight missing from her back she moved faster. Kori had been pretty heavy. She rapped on Toshiro’s door. He answered. She hugged him. “I’m sorry.” She said. Toshiro hugged her back. “I know you are.” He said rubbing her back. After that exchange Ishi pulled back and kissed him. Toshiro kissed back. “Toshiro what am I going to do now? Without a zanpakuto and soul reaper powers I can’t stay here.” Ishi said.
“We’ll work this out.” Toshiro promised brushing some of her now longer hair back from her face. Ishi took is hand and put her face into his palm. Then she heard the alarm. “Shuji!” she said trying to run to fight. Toshiro stopped her. “Where do you think you’re going!” he said. Ishi looked offended, “TO FIGHT!” she snapped. “You can’t fight you have nothing to fight with!” “Are you saying I’m weak?” “Actually I am! You don’t stand a chance in this state!” “How dare you.” Ishi roared shaking him off. She punched him then ran off to go fight. Toshiro ran after her. She was still very fast even without flash step. That moron! Toshiro thought bitterly.
Hizume and Kyoa were fighting. Renji and Haku both willingly knew that Kyoa and Hizume would kill them if they lost their powers to. Ishi arrived and it was a Shuji smack down. He was stealing powers and using them against the soul reapers. Ishi grabbed a broken sword. No point in fighting without a weapon. So the battle began. Shuji could block the powerless soul reapers but he couldn’t hurt them since they had no powers he could cut through and kill. Then a white gate appeared. It was tall and graceful. It emitted a golden light as it opened.
