Ishi was excited along with Hizume now because Christmas was coming up. They were matured now, for the most part, and they were shopping for gifts tighter. Getting thing for everyone else, even for each other, had been easy. It was Renji and Toshiro’s gifts that baffled them. Renji and Toshiro both said not to get them anything, but still Ishi and Hizume hunted until Hizume said, “why don’t we make them something?” she said. Ishi felt the light bulb. “Yeah! They’d love that!” then the two shared a look and giggled. “Well we best go our separate ways now.” Hizume said. Ishi nodded. “Hey we’re still getting dinner tonight together right? You and me?” Ishi said. Hizume nodded and they parted ways. That’s how it was now. They chatted and got along just fine but they had their own lives to attend to. They couldn’t stick to each other’s sides all the time. But that didn’t mean they became less than the closest two friends could get.

Ishi swore as she stuck herself again. She sucked at the welt of blood as she reached for another Band-Aid. This present would be the death of her at this rate. Still Ishi didn’t give up on it. She was defiantly going to finish this even if it killed her!

Hizume added some color to the boarders of the pages carefully. Her hand had been cramping for the last two hours but she didn’t care. Finally she finished the color outlines and began to easy part coloring it in. she smiled at the work. She could only hope that Renji would like it.

Toshiro sighed as he looked around. He wanted to get something for Ishi but she swore up and down if he got her something expensive again it was no kisses until Valentine’s Day. So he was trying to find something he knew she’d like. He puffed out air. That’s when he saw it in the window of the shop.

Renji had long ago gotten Hizume’s gift but was making sure it was still in good condition and it thankfully was. Sighing in relief he began to wrap the gift up knowing if he didn’t someone would discover it.

It was Christmas and all the captains, Lieutenants, and other important people were talking at the party. They all were having a great time. Ishi hid her badly abused hands from sight of Toshiro not wanting to give up her little secret present. That’s when the head captain announced you could open gifts. They had done them in piles. “Toshiro my present I want to give to you in person.” Ishi said holding out a box. Her hands were covered in bandages. “What did you do?” Toshiro said looking at her badly beaten hands. “Eh…. Well just open it. It’s handmade so I got hurt making it.” Ishi said pushing the box closer to her boyfriend. Toshiro sighed looking at her battered hands and took the box. He opened it and smiled at what he saw. It was a hand carved statue of Hyorinmaru exactly like the descriptions he gave her... it was covered in ice blue silk and that was why her hands where beaten. “I know it’s not much but I mean………..it’s to show I listen to ya when ya speak.” Ishi said blushing. She hand covered that dragon with silk and hand carved the pearl teeth it its open mouth. Toshiro said. “I know and I love it.” And with that he kissed his dear girlfriend’s cheek. A few of the others saw this and snickered at him. Toshiro shot them warning glares. They shut up. Then he held out a small box to Ishi. Her eyes narrowed. “It had better not be expensive,” she said. “I didn’t buy it; I had to fight for it.” He said his eyes had slight smirks in them. Ishi opened it. It was a small circular music box. She opened it and a woman dressed in a fine kimono holding two fans spun as the melody played. There was a mirror there and tucked into the bottom was a picture of Ishi and Toshiro in the world of the living. Ishi took a breath then she tackle hugged her boyfriend. Toshiro said, “Can’t……breathe.” Ishi loosened her embrace and Toshiro after regaining his lost breath hugged her back.
Hizume walked up to Renji and tapped him on the shoulder. “Merry Christmas.” She said holding out something thin and rectangle shaped out to him. Renji said, “Likewise.” And he handed her a box with a bow on top. “Open yours first.” Renji said. Hizume pursed her lips and opened the box. Inside was a beautiful hand held mirror with pearls, amethyst, and sapphires embedded on it. She gasped, “This is the one from the world of the living I pointed out!” she said. Renji nodded. “Yup and I went back and bought it I’m glad it survived.” Renji said smiling. Hizume held the dear mirror close to her heart. “Okay open yours.” She ordered. Chuckling Renji tore off the paper. It was a thin photo book. He opened it and saw everything form the beautifully complex borders to the gentle hand writing was all hand done. “I worked hard. Do you like it?” Hizume asked worried he might think otherwise. Renji smiled, “no I love it.” He said as he flipped through it was images of them mostly in the world of the living they took or some pictures Rangiku snapped when she could in the soul society. “I truly love it. But the best gift of all is you.” Renji said. Hizume blushed and she kissed him on the lips softly. Then she pulled back and shared a look with Ishi who was hugging Toshiro. Ishi held up the music box. Hizume held up the mirror. They smiled at each other. Then Hizume walked up to Renji and stood by his side the rest of the party.
Ishi pulled back and kissed Toshiro. “Thank you Toshi!” she said kissing his forehead. Toshiro kissed her nose. “No problem.” He said. Ishi smiled, “now tell me what you meant by fight for it?” Toshiro looked at her and began a long story.

K: then we have another original author’s movie!
Me: then after that I have a few good ideas…. J
K: yeah want to know? We’ll tell you all about it in the note after the spin-off arc about Byakuya and Soifon
