Hizume and Ishi had split up to tell the news differently. Ishi had begun treatment on Toshiro’s large cut as Hizume had begun to heal Renji’s arms. Hizume was up first since Renji was conscious. The entire time she was dreading it. “Renji. How would you react to a child. If it was yours?” Hizume whispered. Renji barely caught the sound of her voice. “I guess if it were with the right woman I’d be excited.” Renji said. “Would I could as the right woman?” Hizume asked letting her voice get louder. Renji blinked. “Well yeah who else would there be?” He said smiling. Hizume then said calmly, “Renji…..I’m….” She couldn’t finish the sentence. Renji though understood. He lent forward and kissed her forehead. “Then you should take it easy and let someone else do the more serious fighting when you get further along don’t put yourself and the kid in danger.” Renji said. Hizume took a breath, “You’re not mad?” Renji laughed.

“No why would I be mad?” He said. Hizume just hugged him. Renji hugged her back. The large lacerations and burns on his hands were now mere cuts and slight discolorations that stung, like sunburn. So he could embrace her. “I was scared you’d be mad and hate me.” Hizume said shaking. “It’s alright. I think every girlfriend gets that way.” He said. Hizume nodded. “But I can’t take care of both of you yet.” Renji said. Hizume froze. “What?” Renji pushed her back a bit. “Marry me?” He said with a wink. Hizume felt new tears come as she then nodded saying, “Yes!” Her squeeze was hard and rough until the baby reminded her it was smushed and kicked her. Renji felt that one and laughed while Hizume giggled.

Ishi told Hizume and Renji to go on ahead. Hizume had allowed her to hear what had happened so she just smiled weakly and congratulated them. She only hoped it would go as smoothly with Toshiro as it did with Renji. Toshiro was still unconscious and Ishi had made him a pillow of her lap. She sighed and played with hair a little. She kind of missed it when it was long. Toshiro woke up to her singing something in American. “I didn’t know you could speak more than one language.” He said. Ishi opened her eyes and smiled. “I can’t speak much I only know that song.” She said. Toshiro's brow furrowed.

“You seem nervous and scared.” Toshiro said reaching a hand up and brushing the hair away from her face. Ishi whimpered. “You’re gonna hate me.” She said quietly. Toshiro sat up. “What are you talking about Ishi? I lost you once; I could never do that again. There is no way I could live without you.” Toshiro said. Ishi took his hand and put it on her flat stomach and Toshiro felt it kick. His eyes widened. “No….no way…” he said. Ishi was crying a little. “I knew you’d hate me.” She said letting his hand go. It fell down onto the ground. “You mean. You’re…… we’re…..I’m….”Toshiro was trying to make sense of it all.

Ishi was patiently waiting for the explosion that she was sure would occur. Her tears got heavier just thinking about it. Toshiro took a hand and gently brushed the tears away. “We’ll just have to make this work won’t we?” Toshiro said. Ishi opened her eyes. “Wha-What? Where’s the nuclear explosion! Aren’t you mad?” She cried. “I’m not mad, but I am a little scared. Nervous you’d say.” Toshiro admitted. Ishi sniffled. “You’re nervous?” she asked. Toshiro nodded. “Yeah wouldn’t be? I mean I’m a dad now. I guess. I’m nervous but I’m not mad and I will take full responsibility for the child. Our child.” Toshiro said. Ishi sniffled a little more and wiped her face. “Come on now we should head back. The shattered Shinigami were defeated. We need to go let you come up for the new strategy since he’s getting stronger.” Toshiro said helping her up. Ishi clasped her hands around his waist in a tight hug. Toshiro rubbed her back not wanting to squeeze her hard. Ishi still had a hand around Toshiro’s waist and he had one around her upper back, since she was half an inch taller than him.

The reception was somewhat decent besides a few nasty rumors started by the women who hated Ishi and Hizume that Toshiro and Renji squashed to save those women from Ishi and Hizume’s wrath. Ishi and Hizume along with the other Broken Shinigami decided it was time for them to all get involved with battle. So it was finally starting. The Shatter War.
