Renji had done as he instructed. That night he came to the door of the captain’s office. Little did he know that A) Ishi was hiding on the roof and B) Toshiro was watching from his office through a hole he drilled in the wall. Hizume timidly showed up. “Ishi told me you wanted to speak with me?” she asked timidly. “Ah yes….um….Hizume... I…” Renji trailed off. “Actually I need to tell you something too.” Hizume blushed as she spoke but she still she spoke. “I-I….” she trailed off. “Shall I go first?” Renji asked. Hizume nodded. “I-I…..Hizume I think I’m in love with you!” Renji blurted. Ishi smirked from her spot on the ceiling. Hizume was in awe. Then Ishi landed silently and knocked her friend into Renji leading the two to kiss.

Hizume pulled back. “Hizume says: oh Renji I love you too! Now!” Ishi said picking her friend up and sucking in breath from the weight she threw her at Renji. “Leave!” Ishi barked. Renji and Hizume were both scarlet but Renji said, “Is what she said true?” Hizume nodded embarrassed. Then she glared at Ishi. The smaller girl just stuck her tongue out. Renji and Hizume left both silent but a plus side was is that they were holding hands. Toshiro came out. “Now that was not expected.” He said standing beside her watching Renji and Hizume leave. “What that made them kiss?” Ishi asked. “No that they leave holding hands.” Toshiro said. Ishi looked at him and giggled a bit. Then she grabbed his chin. “I have yet to think WE have had OUR first kiss….” She trailed off. But before they could Rangiku popped out, “ahahahaha! I caught you!” Ishi and Toshiro both sighed. “Sai!” Ishi said making the motion for the kido. Rangiku was immediately restrained. Ishi grabbed Toshiro’s hand. “Come on…. She killed the mood.” Ishi mumbled. Toshiro nodded. And together they left while Rangiku was yelling at them.

News about the new couples spread like wild fire. Though when the Hitsuguya fan club tried to attack Ishi they backed off at her fiery aura. Hizume and Ishi bumped into Izuru, Momo, and Hisagi in the sertei and were currently having lunch together. “So have you decided which squads you wish to captain?” they shook Hizume and Ishi shook their heads. Ishi touched her scarf. Toshiro had left it wrapped around her zanpakuto. Hizume felt the chopstick in her hair. She had awoken with it in her hand. “Well….i was thinking…I might join squad 9.” Ishi said. Hisagi brightened up, “Really?” he asked. “Yeah. You seem like a good partner and I’d be closer to Toshiro…………but what if he finds that weird. Ugh great now I’m sounding like the kind of girl I swore I’d never be like.” Ishi moaned hitting her head on the table. “I don’t think he’d find it weird.” Momo said. Izuru nodded, “he’d most likely like the fact you want to be closer to him.” He said. “Not to mention squad 9 would be happy to have you as their captain.” Hisagi said. Ishi bit her lip. “I don’t know but right now that is what I’m thinking.” She said. Hizume sighed.

 “I don’t know either I mean I’d love to be close to Renji but squads 3 and 5 are both so great! I don’t know which to choose.” Hizume said. “We still have two days I’m sure we can come to a decision before then. Besides I’ll be helping with whatever squad is still captain less.” Ishi said. “Yeah I guess I would too.” Hizume said. “Whatever you pick we won’t hold it against you.” Momo assured them and the two boys nodded their agreement. “Thanks guys!” Hizume and Ishi said in agreement. Then they stood up. “I’ve made up my mind!” they said. The other three blinked. “Really?” “Yeah we just gotta get it approved first!” Ishi said she and Hizume shared a look. They paid for their portion of the meal and left. The other three were terribly confused.

The next day it was revealed what their plan was. “I present to you captain Hizume Ran of squad 3 and captain of squad 9 Ishi Mai. Also they shall both share captainship of squad 5 until a new person can take their place!” the head captain announced. There was a low rumble of whispers as Hizume and Ishi both came out. They had two emblems on their haoris. Hizume had the squad three emblem then the right half of squad fives emblem. Ishi had squad nine’s emblem and the left half of squad 5 emblem. They were grinning like Cheshire cats. They went over to the three lieutenants. “This way you all have a captain!” Ishi said the grin still on her face. That’s when a woman came in. “everyone there was been an attack on the sertei!” Ishi and Hizume recognized her as Kaiko their old friend. Everyone nodded and everyone moved. Yoruichi and Ichigo had long left. “That’s….” Hizume said when they saw the oh so familiar hollow. Kaiko charged. “No wait it wants-!” Kaiko was stabbed through the chest and her memories of Ishi and Hizume poured out enveloping everyone in their wake.
