“What are you exactly now?” The head captain asked. Hizume cocked her head. “I guess in a way we’re like soul reapers, only we can only sense others like us. And we can’t use kido or hado or any other Shinigami attack. Our speed is similar to shunpo. What little spiritual pressure we have left runs through us giving us heightened ability and these weapons are like a zanpakuto, only they don’t have minds and we can’t shut them down.” She said. Thinking about it they never gave themselves names to call their species. “I guess we’re Broken Shinigami.” Kyoa said shrugging. “Broken Shinigami. Yeah that works.” Keiichi said. “Who are you four?” Soifon asked her eyes narrowing. “We were stuck in there too. When they left they asked us if we wanted to come.” Hochi said. Kyoa nodded and Hizume shrugged. “It was only the eight of us and Mako; well we don’t know where he went. He went insane though.” Hachi said biting her lip. “Mako?” Byakuya asked raising a brow. “Another boy. He was with us then all of a sudden his spiritual pressure changed. He was clutching something in his hand. We think we lost him hueco mundo. We can only hope not. If he’s there he could absorb hollows energy, thus making him stronger and more of a nuisance.” Keiichi said. Sasuke whimpered at the mention of Mako.

“Sasuke never liked him. Ishi pure hated him. Actually he’s the one who gave her that scar.” Keiichi said remembering when Mako was forcing out the weapon. “Scar there was no scar.” Ukitake said. “She covers it up. It’s across the bridge of her nose.” (Like Iruka’s from Naruto) Hizume said. “Well I need to think about this. What will we do?” “Actually sir I can sense others like us.” Hochi said. “Hochi’s the best tracker. How many bro?” Hachi asked turning to her brother. “I’d say three. Can’t place it somewhere.” He closed his eyes and concentrated. “Uh 45th district south, 23rd district east, and 77th district north. I’d need to go there. The layouts changed since I was a soul reaper.” Hochi said opening his eyes. “That would put you at ten. Find those three, then I will tell you what I plan to do.” The head captain said. The six Broken Shinigami nodded. Hizume looked over her shoulder. They could also sense other Broken Shinigami’s emotions. Keiichi was angry and so was she. Ishi was sending off sadness and anxiety. She hated seeing Ishi like that. Toshiro you hurt her again and I will not stop Keiichi from killing your a**. Hizume thought. For now she wanted to hunt down Renji, and kiss him until her lips were sore.

Ishi was refreezing the hole as the ice was getting thin in some places. Ice drifted from her palms and finger pads as the gloves manifested ice chips. Toshiro had found her though. “Ishi.” He said. She jumped going over an area to fast causing it to crack. Quickly she froze the hole before a hollow could reach out; she got it just in time. “Go away Hitsuguya.” Ishi said. She was trembling. She wasn’t ready for this. She wasn’t ready for Toshiro to tell her he hated her and never wanted to see her again. She knew he’d say that. He would. “Ishi.” Toshiro said again turning Ishi around. Ishi was shaking like a leaf in a hurricane then. She refused to look up at him. Then all of a sudden he embraced her. Ishi’s eyes widened as she felt cold tears on her arm. “Don’t leave again.” Toshiro said. Ishi felt her arms rise then she was hugging him back. She’d jumped in height. She was half an inch taller than him now. Her arms felt different with the gloves on, but Toshiro was too busy nearly crushing her. “Toshiro, my durability to squeezing came with my spiritual pressure you can kill me now that I’m more fragile.” Ishi said wriggling. Toshiro loosened his grip. “You said Toshiro.” He said. Ishi nodded. “I’m sorry.” They both said. Then they heard something shatter and Ishi felt sharp pain.

“The ice broke.” She said then she passed out the pain and the over bearing spiritual pressure causing her to fall unconscious. “ISHI!” Toshiro said. He was angry as he set her down on the cold building taking off his haori and covering her with it as he released his zanpakuto’s bankai. He realized in the head of battle if he froze a sphere around the rip and stich it shut with ice then the rip would seal with time. He was about to when Ishi weakly stood her back bleeding staining the gray roof red. “Hurry! Mako’s coming!” Toshiro was confused when he felt a blade pierce his stomach. He looked into orange eyes. “Hello you must be Hitsuguya. Well bye.” Toshiro was thrown by this man into the roof. Hurrying as fast as she could Ishi hurried to Toshiro’s side. She shielded his body from the intense heat the man emitted. “Mako.” Ishi said. Mako’s blazing blue hair stuck up and looked like flame as the flame dragon danced around him. “Well well well if it isn’t Mai. Now then pass along a message to the gramps. His dear grandson is back.” Then Mako disappeared in smoke. “MAKO!” Ishi yelled and it hurt but she fell over on top of Toshiro. She grabbed onto Keiichi’s soul ribbon. “KEIICHI!” she shrieked. Then all went black.

“KEIICHI!” Keiichi clutched his head as the sharp and loud voice of his friend rang through. He jerked and shouted. “Ishi and Hitsuguya are in trouble!” then he hurried. Hizume got ahead of him though. She was carefully holding Ishi as she tried to heal Toshiro as well.  Keiichi bent down and held his golden gauntlet over her face. The eye opened on his palm and Ishi was covered in golden light as the light worked to heal her, allowing Hizume to heal Toshiro. Squad four arrived and took the two injured to the hospital as other soul reapers fought the remaining hollows. Mako had shut the rip behind him. Ishi was being carried by the head captain when she grabbed his sleeve. “Mako, back. He said……grandson.” Then she blacked out again. Others were confused but the head captain got it. Mako was his grandson he banished. Apparently instead of falling into a forgotten world he managed to cling to this one. Ishi’s blood had allowed the make up to fall off the scar and it shone proudly a reminder of the hardships she went through. It was horrible first Aizen with his arrancar now they were gonna have to deal with whatever Mako throws their way.

Ishi awoke hours later her eyes opening slowly. Her gloves were missing and this caused her to freak causing the stitched up cut to throb, reminding her that she was injured. Byakuya calmly handed his old friend her gloves. Clutching them she had his help again to sit up. Working calmly she pulled the gloves on. She then asked, “Where’s my bag?” “In a quarter you shall go to after Unohana gives you the okay to leave.” Byakuya responded. Ishi nodded taking the ribbon and hiding the scar she had always hidden with the scarf. Then she pulled her messy hair back. “How do you feel?” Byakuya asked. “Sore as h**l, and relieved. Toshiro doesn’t hate me.” Byakuya cracked her upside the head with the book he’d been reading. Ishi was muttering curses as he said, “I doubt captain Hitsuguya would ever hate you.” Ishi looked at him with narrow eyes. “Is he okay?” Byakuya nodded as they heard, “MATSUMOTO!” Ishi was giggling recognizing the voice.

“Must be. I take it Hizume must’ve healed him. Only her healing would make him rise up that fast.” Ishi said. Byakuya nodded. “Where are the others?” Ishi asked. “At their current quarters.” Byakuya responded turning the page. Ishi nodded looking outside as white flower blossoms flew by her window. The light made them seem to glow as they flew looking like sets of lovers dancing in the star light. Ishi felt a smile play on her lips. At least her problems with Toshiro were over for the most part. The Hizume walked in. she threw Byakuya out, literally chair and all, and sat down on the edge of Ishi’s bed. “You feeling better?” she asked. Ishi nodded. “Good. Keiichi’s healing isn’t the best.” Hizume said laughing softly. Ishi snorted. “It sucks. As soon as Unohana clears me I’m going to take a nap.” Ishi said. “Alright. You should rest. There are three more like us; we came up with a name to Broken Shinigami. We’ll find them as you and Toshiro recover.” Ishi nodded. Then Hizume added. “They all look so different now!” Ishi laughed out loud the full tone of her voice ringing through the halls. It was good to be home.
