Ishi was put on bed rest so Hizume and the Broken Shinigami were without their captain. But they understood, Ishi was pregnant after all. Besides with Hizume and Keiichi, and their own knowledge they didn’t exactly need someone ordering them, and Ishi never did except give them their duties and move on knowing they do it. Kiyone was in the hospital and when he could Keiichi would visit. Kurosutchi was getting closer and closer to the cure and it was so close but they needed test subjects so that was what Kyoa and Haku were doing with a few squad members. They were getting a few test subjects for Kurosutchi to study and attempt to cure.

Kyoa was leading focusing on the shattered thoughts of the Shattered. Haku was right behind her. The squad was well behind. But what the squad came to see made them gasp and cry out. Kyoa and Haku were dead.

Ishi’s foot slammed on the door knocking the doors back as she stormed in. “Is it true!” she yelled. The Broken Shinigami was behind her. Some were teary eyed others thoroughly pissed. The head captain sighed and nodded as Ishi fell to her knees. “No….” then people were shocked to see her cry. Ishi never cried much anymore, and she hardly did before. “My only living relative….” She said as she began to sob. Hizume and Temari tried to comfort her. “I wouldn’t say that.” Kurosutchi said. Ishi growled and snapped, “What?” Kurosutchi only gave her a dirty look. “Temari is another relative. Haku’s sister I believe. From the DNA samples I had from her for my research and his own from his autopsy.” Kurosutchi said. Temari and Ishi stared at each other. “No way…looking at you now. You do look like my Uncle. He had red hair and eyes too.” Ishi said her tears were still streaming down her face. She wiped them away. “Not to mention we lost a Broken Shinigami.” Ishi muttered.

This wasn’t going right at all. Not to mention Kurosutchi didn’t get his test subjects either to try to cure the poor things. Ishi stood up. “Hochi, Hachi, Temari, and Keiichi. You guys have been resting right? I want you to go get Kurosutchi a few test subjects. You have only one real rule.” Ishi said. “Don’t die.” The four nodded sharply. Hizume helped Ishi get back to her room. Toshiro and Renji were on guard duty and Hizume just got back from fighting 15 battles. “We need to move. They’re starting to get stronger than our gate guards. The sertei will soon be overrun with the Shattered legion. Out base needs to be moved back.” Ishi told a hell butterfly while Hizume fixed her something to drink. Ishi swore she was gonna kill someone even if it was someone she knew. This was great. The head captain’s response was that they’d move in three days’ time.

Ishi sighed as she drank the tea and her healing ice worked on Hizume wounds healing them while softly soothing and regenerating the woman. Ishi put her hand to her stomach. “I wonder what the child will grow up to be like.” She mumbled. Hizume smiled. “I don’t know. He might be like another version of the old you.” She snickered. Ishi jumped. “Oh no, no, no. not you too little guy take after your dad. Okay?” she said rubbing her stomach laughing along with Hizume. “Is it bad for us to be here while everyone else is struggling?” Ishi said. Hizume shot her a dirty look. “Ishi you’ve been fighting for months on end. The only times you’ve relaxed was when you were forced to or when you were injured that time. You deserve to rest. I’m exhausted. Once I’m good I’ll go back and fight for the both of us, promise.” Hizume said. Ishi sighed and smiled looking at her old time friend and sister.

“I’m glad I have you here to help me.” Ishi said smiling. Hizume smiled back. “I can only hope Toshiro and Renji will be alright.” Hizume said. It was Ishi’s turn to give her a dirty look. “They will live and they will be alright. They’re strong men.” Ishi said. Hizume smiled.  “Yeah after all how else would we even be attracted to them.” She said making a funny face. Ishi laughed. “It’s good. Maybe our laughter will help the warriors keep light hearted.” Ishi said. Hizume nodded. “We can hope.” She said.
