Chapter 8

It was still nighttime when I woke up, so I decided to go out and try and find them. I wasn't sure how it would work, but it was worth a try. For all I knew, I would be the only one there, but if that happened, I could scout out the area in case anyone new showed up.

Dawn was coming when I finally got there. It didn't seem to take this long in the dreams. Sure enough, Vikk and Preston were still there. Still in the shadows, I became a fox and walked up to them. 'Hello? Do you see me?' I thought, hoping Vikk would hear. 'Who is it? Wait, is that you fox?'

'Yes, and I forgot to mention that my name is Ashley. Do you prefer for me to be girl form or fox form? I really don't care which, but in the dreams I'll be in fox, obviously. Wait, did you tell Preston I'm here yet? I want to try and spook him.'

'No, I didn't tell him, fox is fine, and Ashley is a cool name. Mind if I call you Ash?' At this point though, I was getting ready to scare Preston. Coming up behind him as a fox, I quickly turned human and jumped on him, shouting BOO!!! Right after I did it though I went fox again, so that if he turned around to hit me it would be harder for him. 'Don't tell him anything.' I thought. He looked around wildly, and finally spotted me.

"I'm going to get you Ashley!!!" Preston yelled after me.

'Not if I'm faster than you!' I thought to myself. 'There's a hollow tree near the clearing. See if you can run into it, where he can't get you.' I hear Vikk helping me, and so I laugh in my head at poor Preston, being double teamed. Running to the log, I hide out until Preston returns to the clearing, defeated

"I have no idea where she went." He told Vikk. "She just like, disappeared from everything." Looking around him, he says it's probably time to wake up, and Vikk agreed. Quickly turning human once I'm out of the log, I run home, hoping they don't miss me. I get to my bed a few minutes before Preston comes in, glaring at me. I start laughing, and he can't stay mad at me, I'm too innocent.

"You have to admit, I got you." I said.

"I don't have to admit it, but yes, you did. How'd you get away so fast though?"

"Vikk helped me." I said, smirking at him.
