Today was my first day of school. I had no friends yet, nor did I expect too many. Even when I would come out of my room in the orphanage, I wasn't the most popular person there. Brianna drove me to school that morning, and trying to help me out with my situation by saying that after school, she'd take me to meet Preston's side of the family. I really wanted to meet Keeley, so I agreed.

School was boring, except that during lunch I made two friends, my very first ones since I had lost my parents. Their names were Raven and Cheryl.

They were really nice, and I haven't even told them who adopted me yet, or that I was adopted. The fact that we were friends without them knowing those things meant they wanted me for who I am, but I wasn't sure how long the friendship would last when I told them I was adopted. I didn't want a pity friendship, or one because my dad has a successful YouTube career. I thought about all of this as Preston pulled into his family's driveway.

Once we were inside, Keeley came down from her room.

"Hey, I'm Keeley! What's your name?" She asked me.

"I'm Ashley. I loved your music video Light it Up." I said, smiling.

"I love your headband!!" She said. Reaching up, I was glad my hair was down, or else she'd realize that the fox ears she'd mistaken for a headband had replaced my actual ears.

"Thanks!" We headed upstairs, and chatted for a while. By the time we were done, I was tired, especially after I  had decided to play 'I am Believing', and I sang along to it.

Once we went home, I ran into my room to get rid of my fox ears. I was worried about what it might look like if the wind blew my hair back, and my ears were missing. But by the time I got up there, I had my normal ears back. I decided to experiment with the ability. I wanted to be able to make my tail come out, because that would be easier to hide than missing ears. I was was finally successful just as Preston walked in.
