School was over, and I still didn't know what to do, when suddenly, I heard Vikk. Ash, go to the clearing. Mitch will be waiting for you, invisible. Don't try to talk to him, or else it will give him away.
How did you know about the letter? I asked him.
Easy. You were reading it in your head. I was worried, so I listened in. Oh well. I guess I'm going then.
So, are you outside, or... I trailed off.
At the office. Why?
Just wondering. I thought, then headed to the forest. I finally got there, and was almost out of breath. I hate how hot it is in Texas, but I love it too. Just then I felt a pat on my back. I looked around, and upon not seeing anyone, I assumed it was Mitch.
I'm assuming you got there. I had Mitch let you know he was there. If anything happens, Lachlan will teleport us all there, and I expect you to turn fox and run. I heard Vikk say. So that was Mitch. I trudged onwards, wondering what would happen.
As I walked towards the clearing, I could feel someone watching me. Hoping it was just Mitch, I stopped just outside of it.
"Is anyone here?" I ask, trying not to look terrified.
"We've been waiting. What took so long?" I heard a man's voice question.
"Since you didn't want me coming with anyone, I had to walk here. The forest is on the other side of town from my school." I said, telling the half truth.
"So, you were incapable of asking, I don't know, Liam, for a ride?" The man asked.
"Seeing as how he's too young to drive, yes." I answer. That man walks out of the shadows, rolling his eyes.
"Well, as long as you're here, I may as well get this over with. Come over to me." He said.
"I'd rather not." I replied, trying not to run.
"Too bad, I don't remember giving you a choice. Now come here." He said.
"Fine." I spat out, slowly walking towards him.
"Now turn fox." He said.
"I'm sorry, did you just tell me to become a fox? I'm pretty sure that's impossible." I say, acting skeptical.
"It is not, and you know it. Now do it."
"How? Like this?" I say, jokingly concentrating on becoming a wolf. Well, I was joking before I succeeded.
"I was told she could only be a fox! Wolves are much too powerful." I heard him muse. I imagine myself as a mouse, because as one I could slip away super easily. What I didn't think abut was that a mouse would also be easy to catch.
"GOTCHA!!!!!" I hear, as a couple hands wham onto me. Being transferred to one hand, it hold on tight as the other one grabs a clear plastic box. I'm placed in there, with the lid snapping shut before I could even move. He held the box, as I sensed five more people join us. The Pack was here.
