Chapter 19

As I got home, I remembered that Thursday was my birthday. I wondered if Brianna and Preston knew that. Walking in, I found Brianna on the couch.

"Hey, did anyone tell y'all when my birthday is?" I asked her.

"No, when is it?" She replied.

"It's this Thursday. Well, I'm going to go up and do my homework." I left and finished my homework in about an hour. This homework load is so light. I was expecting hours upon hour of homework. I thought. Getting on my laptop, I went and played Minecraft for a little while, when I got an email from Preston.

Want to play a Minecraft map for a video? If you're done with your homework of course. Reading this, I quickly replied.

If course I'm done with it. I was actually on Minecraft when you emailed me. Sending it, I quickly got a message from Preston saying he wanted to do a voice chat.

"So, what map are we doing?" I ask.

"Here, I'll just send it to you." He sent me this parkour map that claimed to be god level parkour. We both got on it, and I was introduced.

"Hey, what's going on guys! It's Preston here for another parkour map, with a special guest. My adopted daughter, Ashley."

Laughing, I say "I'm not that special Preston. Besides, we all know how good I am at parkour." He denies it, and we begin the map.

Once I'm halfway through, and he's only a fourth of the way, I ask him about how he said that he was better.

"You're just having really good luck."

"No I'm not. You just don't want to admit a teenager is better than you at parkour." I say, knowing it's true. "Here, I'll wait for you. Sound good?"

"Don't bother. I'll be there in probably a few minutes." He said, obviously trying to keep some pride intact. Rolling my eyes, I quickly finish the map. I go into spectator mode and watch him.

"Try to just speed through it and not pause for every jump. It worked for me." I say, trying to help. Trying it, he finally gets to the next stage. We continue like that until he's almost done.

"Here, it's just a quad. I'll do it, you really don't need to help me." He says. I agree, then watch. Finally completing the map, he closes the video off and we start chatting. "My viewers are going to start saying you're better at parkour than me. Why did I have to invite you to this?"

"I don't know. Ready for tonight?" I ask.

"What's- oh yeah. I don't know if people will trust you or not though. After you left, they all were talking about what you said. Vikk and I were the only ones who stood up for you." He said.

"Well, I need some sleep. I have school tomorrow, remember?" I leave the call, and climb into bed, shifting as I do it.

**Dream**
Arriving in the woods, I find Mitch relaxing.
Hey, how are you? We never really talked when you first arrived. I say after turning human.
Glancing up, he says I'm pretty good. It's okay about us never really talking earlier. Still, did you see the look on Lachlan's face when I scared him? Boy do I remember.
That was hilarious. I said. Finally, the others started arriving. I went back to fox, and just sat there listening to the conversation.
Jerome should be arriving tonight. Rob says. Well, if this is all they're talking about, I'm going to keep an eye out for Jerome.
You good Ash? I hear Vikk ask me.
Pretty good, how about yourself? I ask him.
Good. I wonder why Jerome hasn't arrived yet. He thought.
Maybe we should start training so we don't appear totally clueless when he does arrive. I suggest. Agreeing, he mentions it to the others. Finally, we start training.
I turn human and ask Preston about what I need to do.
I can pretty much control my fox power. I know the rest of y'all have to practice using their ability, but I'm almost a pro at mine. I say.
I don't know. Maybe help some of the others. Practice with Mitch to help him get quieter when invisible, help Rob figure out how to use his powers, help Lachlan with his teleporting, whatnot. Preston suggests. I think about it, and we agree that it makes a lot of sense. Walking over to Rob, I see him growing flowers.
What can I do with this?! It seems so lame! He tells me.
You could try growing super strong vines to trip them or tie them. I suggest. He concentrates, and finally a really thick vine shoots out of the ground.

A/n super long chapter for all of y'all!! School will be starting back up, so I may not be able to make these every day, depending on homework loads. Also, I'm finishing this at 838 words! A new record!!
