After having mostly tests today, I got back on the bus, ready to just relax a bit. Lots of tests meant little to no homework, and while it never took me long, I liked getting a little more me-time. Liam sat down next to me again, and we began talking.
"So, where are Mitch and Cheryl? If you can tell me, that is." I asked, anxious to to know something about where they are. A look of surprise flashed across his face before he regained his composure and answered me.
"They haven't like, texted you or anything?" I slowly shook my head no, when an idea crossed my mind. How were they supposed to text me if they were still locked up, unless they were actually free?
"Wait, are they out?" I cautiously asked, not wanting to get my hopes up. But, before he could answer me, the bus halted at my stop. "Text me! See ya!" I said, hurriedly grabbing my stuff and rushing off the bus. Little did I realize that I had left my book behind, and that Liam had picked it up.
Third Person
When the doorbell rang, Preston stood up and answered it. But when he opened it up, he didn't see anyone, so he looked down. Picking up the strange briefcase, he took it inside and tossed it on the couch, never noticing the gnat that flew in after him. Forgetting about the briefcase, he went over to the kitchen to make himself breakfast.
Mitch's POV
Cheryl and I were in the suffocating darkness, when the movement stopped. Even though it wasn't exactly a rough drop, I still turned us both invisible, when suddenly we were deafened by the clanging of a doorbell, and the pounding of feet drawing nearer. I heard the door open, and a few seconds later, our ride was evidently picked up. Our carrier was obviously a different person, since they swung the briefcase by their side. It probably wasn't enough for them to notice, but it felt like a ship tossing and turning on never ending ferocious waves. Suddenly, I felt my stomach drop as the person seemingly chunked us at something. It seemed like ages before the free fall ended, only leading up to something much worse. We had arrived at our destination, which included abruptly stopping and throwing us against the side of our enclosure. I soon heard retreating footsteps, then the sound of metal hitting the kind of clay used in cereal bowls. And then,
"Hey Preston, who was at the door?" Came a voice that sounded like Rob.
"I don't know. Someone, a prankster I guess, left a briefcase on the doorstep. It's over there, on the couch." Came Preston's voice. By now I was almost certain that I was back with the rest of the Pack. But, what day was it? Would I be able to contact Vikk, or possibly get Ashley to change us back? Suddenly I heard what seemed to be Lachlan's familiar Aussie accent speak above Preston and Rob.
"Hey guys, let's stop talking about it and actually open it."
Wait, Mitch, is that really you? Where are you? Can you even hear me?! I heard Vikk ask me.
Yes, I hear you. I'm in the briefcase with Cheryl, and we're disguised as mice. Don't let the others freak out about us, please. I answered his fervent questions. Then,
"Hey guys! Mitch is back!!" Instantly I am once again deafened by the sound of scraping chairs and thundering footfalls coming towards us, most passing though. Finally, I heard the clicking of the fastenings being opened, and Vikk's face looms over us.
"Mitch, is that really you?" He asked, putting a hand down for us to clamber onto it. Being set down on the couch, I feel a curious sensation as everything becomes normal size again, Mial must have turned us back. Instantly I was smothered in a hug, the other four guys running in.
Soon I heard the clearing of a throat. I broke out of the hug and looked at Cheryl.
"So, do you want to go to school, your home, or just stay here?" I asked her.
"Stay here. My parents will send me to school, and I don't really want to walk in late. She said. Just then, Brianna walked in and saw her.
"Who are you? Are you okay?" Brianna instantly asked Cheryl.
"I'm Cheryl, one of Ash's friends. I'm fine, but I am a little hungry and in need of a change of clothes." Cheryl replied. Soon, we had her in a pair of fire logo sweatpants and a fire logo t-shirt.
