When I woke up, I found myself in a cage on a windowsill. The sun was just rising, and I could see a calendar which said it was Wednesday. Seeing no one around me, I tried to shift into something bigger than the mouse form I was in, but it was a futile attempt. Stuck in this shape, I began to examine my surroundings, which seemed to be a bedroom, not the lab I was expecting. Just then, a door opened, and a girl who I almost recognized ran in. Wait, is that Jessica? No, it can't be, that'd mean I'm back at the orphanage. I thought, slowly realizing where I was. Before I could fully process it though, the younger girl reached up and grabbed my cage off of the windowsill.

"Hi there little mouse!" She said, staring at me with big green eyes. "Don't worry, I held you when the doctors were giving you all your shots!" When she said that, my heart sank. No, I must have been given a shot that prevents me from shifting. Her fingers snaked through the bars of my cage, petting me.

"Anyway, my name is Jessica, and you're my new pet!" Jessica exclaimed. Soon, I had been given the very original name of 'Mousie'. "So Mousie, if I get adopted, and my new family doesn't want you, you're going to have to hide in my stuff." She said, holding me in her warm, slightly sweaty, hands.
Vikk's POV
When Liam came over to talk to us, he mentioned a serum that the people he "works" for would test out on him that would keep him in whichever animal form he was in. Once it began working, they concocted another serum that could reverse the effects of the first serum.

"I think it's very likely that they used the first serum on her, and it lasts until the victim can receive the other injection." Liam finished explaining. It had begun to get late, so he had slept in Ashley's room before picking up this morning where we left off last night.

"So, what you're telling us is that my daughter is most likely trapped in an unknown animal form?" Preston asked.

"Most likely. If y'all want, I can ask one of my coworkers about her." Liam offered.

"Wouldn't they realize that something was up if you just plain out asked them?" I questioned, skeptical.

"Nope. Everyone there knows me as a very curious person, so no one will question it." Liam assured us.
So, are you 100% confident in this plan? I asked him, wanting to be sure since it's harder to lie while speaking telepathically.
I'm certain. And if you need, I can tell y'all the location of her, then stay as backup in case anything goes wrong. He replied. I gave one short nod of approval before explaining the plan to the rest of the present Pack.
Preston's POV
When Vikk began to explain the plan, all I could thing about was my daughter, probably locked up in some cage, stuck as an animal. I didn't notice that Vikk had finished talking until everyone began staring at me.

"Sorry, what? I was zoned out." I said, my thoughts returning to the house.

"I said, once Liam finds out where Ash is, we will all sneak in and while Liam gets the serum, we get Ash. Ok?" Vikk repeated. "Just a second, I'm going to try and contact Ashley again." He added before zoning out. Suddenly, his face lit up for a moment, until something was said that caused the excitement to dim.

"Who was it?" Jerome asked once Vikk was back with us and not in his head.

"It... it was Ash. And she said that she's back at her orphanage, as a pet mouse for a little girl named Jessica. Now all we need is the fixing serum, and get her back from this Jessica person, and we'll be all set." Vikk said.

"Wait, now all I have to do is just grab the serum?" Liam asked. Once Vikk nodded, he began to ask another question. "So, what if you six caused a distraction while I grab it? Would that work for y'all? I can give you guys disguises."

"Yeah, that should work. What kind of a disguise are we talking about, since we'll need to be fully capable of escaping fast." Rob asked. Liam shrugged, and we began rebuilding our plan.
Lachlan's POV
"Ok, so let me get this straight. Preston, Jerome, and I will go over to the right wing of the facility, and Rob, Mitch, and Vikk will head over to the left wing, all while you go down the middle and get the serum? And we'll be cockroaches?" I asked, trying to get it fully clarified.

"Yep. So let me know when y'all want to practice being roaches." Liam said. "Plus, roaches are notoriously hard to kill, and they can fly." Even when he said that, I still wasn't reassured, and evidently neither was Mitch.

"So, you expect us to be okay with being in the body of a cockroach? I was in that briefcase while in the shape of a mouse, and when Preston simply tossed us it was a terrifying experience. How much worse could it be to be a roach?" Mitch argued.

"But Preston didn't know you and Cheryl were in there. I would know about you being roaches, and-" Liam started before being cut off.

"But everyone there wouldn't know. And just because we'd be difficult to kill doesn't mean it's impossible." Mitch said.

"Guys, calm down. In order to save Ashley, we may need to take some risks, and even if I'm not a fan of this, I'll still do it for Ash." I said, breaking up the petty argument.

"Fine. But if something happens, don't say I didn't warn you." Mitch said, giving in.

"Ok. Liam, we should probably start now." Rob said, and everything instantly got even bigger.

A/N
This chapter ended with exactly 1000 words, not counting my a/n. Also, I know I don't often put a lot of these in, but now that we only have two chapters left, I'm wishing I had done more. But, if this book gets to 5K reads, I'll do an epilogue for it. Also, please comment on
