Chapter Twenty-Six

The Next Morning ...

Rey's POV
I woke up early in the morning in an unfamiliar room, I looked around the room for a few moments before remembering what had happened the day before and what I was going to do today. The mission. I heard a knock on the door and immediately knew it was Ben.

"Come in," I called loud enough that he'd be able to hear me.

The door opened and Ben stepped into the room. "Good morning," he said to me with a small smile.

I yawned. "Good morning," I replied with a tired smile.

"Ready for the mission?" He asked.

"Honestly, not really," I replied. "Now, get out so I can actually get ready," I added standing up.

"Fine, I'll be in my room, knock on the door when you're ready to go for breakfast." He replied, leaving the room and closing the door behind him.

I walked over to the closet, fortunately there was a resistance uniform in it along with plain black leggings and a simple white shirt. I decided on the leggings and shirt along with my own boots and the leather jacket with the resistance emblem on the shoulder. I tied my dark hair into a simple braid and attached my lightsaber to my belt before walking out of my room and knocking on Ben's door.

He opened the door with a smile. "Come on. Let's go get something to eat before the mission," he said.

I nodded. "Okay," I said with a slight smile.

We walked to the dining hall and sat at one of the tables near the back of the room.

A droid came by and delivered breakfast, which was composed of toast and eggs.

Ben's POV
I began to eat the food when I glanced up at Rey and saw her picking at the eggs with her fork. "You okay?" I asked her.

She nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine, just nervous about the mission," she replied.

"Rey, it's all going to be okay. We're going to win, the war will be over." I said with a reassuring smile.

She nodded and smiled half heartedly. "Okay," she said.

After breakfast, we walked to the hangar to prepare for the mission.

My parents and Poe were already waiting in the hangar preparing the ships for the mission. I glanced at Rey, she looked deathly calm considering what we were about to do. 

Leia walked up to us. "Are you two prepared for this?" She asked glancing up at me.

I nodded. "Yeah, I'm as ready as I'll ever be," I replied with a small smile.

"Okay, everything is prepared for the mission, General," Poe called to Leia, who just nodded and glanced over at him.

"I guess that means that you two are leaving now," Leia said, giving me a hug. "Be safe." She said quietly.

"Don't worry I will be," I replied quietly, letting go of the hug.

"Okay, may the force be with both of you." She said with a soft smile.

I nodded and took Rey's hand once again and walked to the ship that we'd be taking to the first order base.
