Brynn was home alone, cleaning. Joe had gone to work the past two days but since she wasn't booked for house shows, she was spending time at home. Joe would be back tonight and she wanted to make sure he came home to a clean house and a good meal.
Her phone began ringing and she quickly ran over and answered it before the ringing stopped
"Hey Nic," she said, smiling at Nikki's face
"Hey," Nikki replied
"What's up?" She asked, fixing the pillows on the couch
"I didn't know who else to call. I just needed someone to talk to," Nikki said in a broken tone and Brynn stopped what she was doing and sat on a bar stool in the kitchen
"John and I officially decided to call it quits," she admitted and Brynn bit her lip
"So you officially broke up with him?" Brynn asked and Nikki nodded, tears coming to her eyes
"Is this what's best for you?" She asked and Nikki took a shaky breath
"I love him more than anything. I always will but I lost myself in it. I couldn't do it anymore." She said
"I miss him," she said, after a while of silence
"I hate waking up by myself. I hate the feeling of not having him near me. I hate it." She said, turning off
"Well if you both agreed there was no hope for the future then this is a good thing," Brynn explained, looking at the picture of her and Joe on the fridge

"I just don't know what to do. I feel like my whole world just crashed right in front of me. John was everything I'd known for 6 years. I don't even know what's best for me now," Nikki admitted sounding positively crushed and Brynn wiped a tear from under her eye
Was this how she made Joe feel? Refusing him marriage and kids made him feel like how Nikki was feeling about John?
"You're gonna be okay Nic. One way or the other, with or without him, you're gonna be okay. I'm here for you," Brynn assured
"You always know how to make me feel better, Brie's coming over to help me pack in a while, can I call you tomorrow?" Nikki asked and Brynn quickly nodded
"Of course, I'll talk to you tomorrow," Brynn said
"Love you," Nikki said and Brynn smiled and her finger hovered over the screen
"Love you to," she replied and after a parting greeting, they hung up and she sighed and put a hand on her lips

She sighed and continued cleaning
It was later in the evening when she heard the cab pull up on the curb and she went and looked out the window, seeing Joe pull out his luggage
She opened the door and walked out
"Hello baby," Joe greeted as he opened his arms and she walked in, hugging him tight
They had eaten and Joe and her were just chilling in bed, Brynn on her usual spot on his chest
"John and Nikki are officially over," she told him and he hissed
"That's rough, they really loved each other, I'll call John tomorrow," he said and Brynn nodded
"Promise me something," she said and Joe looked at her and nodded
"Anything," he replied and she sat up and laced their fingers together
"Promise me that when we get engaged, no matter what happens, we'll always make time for each other and we'll always talk stuff out, try to make it," she begged and Joe sat up next to her
"I promise. John and Nicole were like us in a lot of ways, in love, crazy for each other, but they're not us," he told her
"We'll make it through everything," he promised and raised their joined hands, pressing a kiss to hers
"Someday I'm gonna marry you," she told him and he smiled
"I know, I'm waiting for that day," he replied and she grinned and kissed him
"I love you," she told him and he kissed her
"I love you to," he replied
Brynn fell asleep easier that night because hell, knowing Joe was willing to work on any arguments they may have as fiancés or husband and wife made her feel more comfortable. Her phobia of marriage always increased when a seemingly perfect couple broke up. But, knowing she had someone like Joe at her side, made her so happy and much more open to the idea of marriage
