Brynn had just arrived at her dad's home at 2 in the morning and it was 10am now and they were at the dining table. Her dad knew that when she was over at his place, it was just to chill out and not do anything even remotely related to public outings

"Have you talked to your mom lately?" Her dad asked, putting some cereal in his mouth

"Not since the last time I was here, why?" Brynn asked, chewing what she had in her mouth and she was kinda offset by her dad's question

"She's been calling me alot lately, saying that she wants to talk to you," he told her and she briefly froze

"Anytime we talk, our conversations turn into a screaming match and I'm just sick of it now you know?" She asked, drinking some protein shake

"So Randy brought up the drugs huh?" Her dad asked and she looked at him with a sullen expression.

"Yeah, I'm not exactly mad about it but I do applaud myself for not making shit with mom public, you know, people won't call me a hypocrite for it." She admitted and sighed

"Did Joseph know about the drugs?" Her dad asked and she looked at him and ran her tongue over her bottom lip a few times before she shook her head

"I know he feels like I've been lying to him for awhile since I just refused to tell him, but both myself and Jon have always kept it on wraps just how fucked up we both were and Joe understands the type of person I am and I don't wanna lose his trust but at the same time I don't want to tell him," she admitted

Joe was one of the most important persons in her life, and the fact that if she did end up telling him the story of her drug abuse that he might find her disgusting was something she was actually terrified of, but at the same time, if she told him and he didn't accept her then maybe, this break would be something permanent

"This isn't something you should hide from him Brynn, you see Joe in your future right? You see yourself married to him, having kids with him and growing old with him don't you?" He asked and she nodded

"Then you can't keep something so personal to yourself, you have to be able to share one heart. Joe loves you more than anything in this world and if you can't trust him to tell your life story to, then who can you trust?" He asked and she bit her lip as she thought about what he said

"Jon and I are hitting 11 years of friendship next month," she said, trying to lighten up the mood and her dad smiled

"I've always liked that kid." Her dad admitted

"Y'all doing anything special?" He asked and Brynn shrugged

"He said he's got something planned but for Jon, that could mean anything." She replied and her dad laughed because yeah, that's true. His daughter's best friend was a weird one but he had the best intentions

"I'm gonna call Joe and then we'll go grocery shopping or something," she told him and he chuckled at his daughter's attempt at a fun outing

She went up to her room and pressed the little camera next to Joe's name and waited, rubbing her chin. It took nearly 6 seconds before the screen read 'connecting...' and his face was on the screen

"Hey," he said with a smile, she smiled back

"Hey Joe, where are you?" She asked, rubbing her knee

"Um, in the car with Colby, we're halfway to the airport right now, why?" He answered

"When are you landing?" She asked and he looked at Colby and squinted

"Around 2 in the afternoon," Colby replied

"Hey Co," she greeted and she got one in return

"My dad says you can stay with us, the both of you that is and I'll tell Jon and you know," she trailed off and they agreed with the idea

"I really miss you," she admitted and Joe looked amused

"Weren't you the one who said we needed time apart? I'm just giving you what you want," he said

Brynn sighed, she knew Joe had a hard time when it came to them staying away from each other and she knew he was kinda mad at her for instigating the 'space' idea

Brynn sighed, she knew Joe had a hard time when it came to them staying away from each other and she knew he was kinda mad at her for instigating the 'space' idea

"Okay, I was wrong and stupid, but I really want you to come see me, we need to talk, about so many things and I rather do it in a personal setting you know?" She asked and he nodded

"I'll call you when we land," he replied after a minute of silence and she nodded and they just stared at each other for a few moments before they muttered a parting greeting and hung up

"You okay?" Colby asked, noticing the change in Joe's demeanour and Joe shrugged

"I just wanna get this divorce thing over with so I can get my life back in track," he admitted and Colby sighed

"Did you deliver her the papers?" He asked and Joe nodded, rubbing his hands together

"But you know how she is, she won't make it easy, she already refused to sign them, I don't know what to do anymore," Joe said, rubbing an exasperated hand over his face, Colby frowned in return.

Brynn smiled as she saw the picture that was on her twitter timeline, it was of Joe and Colby in the airport and they were trying to look like they hated each other's guts and wanted nothing to do with the other.

Brynn smiled, she knew if she wanted a future with Joe, she needed to let him know the parts of her that she hadn't shown him yet and hope he wasn't repulsed. For now, she could only hope for the best, and she knew he'd always love her. He proved that to her so many times, after making countless mistakes, he stuck by her through thick and thin.
