You Always Got Us

-2 Months Later-

"Colby, come here!" Brynn called, looking around the lovely villa in Hawaii they got for their wedding. It was tomorrow in fact, Joe's entire family was here already, her dad just needed to fly in

"What's up?" He asked, coming to stand next to Brynn as she raised her hand

"So I don't know if we build the arch on the beach or not," she said unsure, looking at the white sand  

"I mean sure, the tide won't be high tomorrow, I checked," he said with a laugh and she smiled

"Where's Jon?" She then asked

"He's out on the lanai," he replied and she hummed

"Joe's at the airport?" She asked and Colby nodded

"Yeah uh, he went to pick up Patti and Sika," Colby replied and she nodded again

"Lemme know when he gets back, I'm gonna chill with Jon," she said and Colby nodded as she walked out and saw Jon sitting there on a sun chair, drinking a beer

"Want some company?" She asked, sitting down carefully and Jon glanced at her but didn't reply. Since that conversation they had in the car, Jon had been keeping his distance from her and it wasn't fair but I mean, Brynn could sort of understand

She sighed and laid back, as Jon brought his bottle to his lips and took a drink, he pulled it away and sighed

"You nervous?" He finally asked and Brynn actually jumped lightly at hearing him start the conversation

"A little, but I'm more excited than anything else," she replied and Jon nodded and took another drink

"I'm happy for you," he said and she looked at him, but he had yet to make eye contact

"Are you?" She asked and Jon clicked his tongue and swung his legs over to face her

"Look Brynn, I love you, I'll always fucking love you. That hasn't changed in 10 years and it never will. I am happy for you though, you're finally getting this perfect moment, the one I was too immature to realize I wanted, and the one that Fergal was stupid enough to mess up," Jon explained

"I'm just really glad to have you here Jon," Brynn admitted and Jon looked at her

"I'm really glad to be here," Jon admitted and she smiled at him as he passed his beer for her to drink from and she did

"I need to tell you something else," he told her, squinting at the sun in his eyes, she licked her lips and hummed in question then her phone began ringing and she looked at it

"Hold on Jonny, it's dad," she told him and slid the answer symbol to accept the video call

"Hey dad!" She greeted happily and then her face fell at the look on his face

"You okay?" She asked, Jon looking at her

"It's uh, it's about your mom sweetheart," he finally answered

"Oh, did she miss her flight? I can arran-"

"No pumpkin, she didn't miss her flight," he replied

"Is it delayed? I can tell Joe-"

"No it's uh not delayed, sweetie-"

"She's uh, she's not coming." He said and just like that, Brynn's world collapsed and Jon inhaled sharply

"What?" Brynn whispered

"Something came up at work and she's gonna be stuck for about 2 months," Patrick told her sadly
