Brynn sat in the kitchen, making lunch when she heard Joe yelling, she knew JOJO was here so she walked into the living room to see what was the matter
"I don't care Joelle. I'm your father and I am not letting you go out with a boy, you're only 10." Joe said in his parent voice
"But dad! I really like him!" JOJO whined
"No Joelle. I'm the parent and what I say goes and if I say you can't go then for god sake's you can not go." Joe said loudly and Brynn knew he was frustrated as he and Joelle stared each other down
Brynn watched JOJO's bottom lip tremble
"I hate you!" She yelled and ran up the stairs
Brynn's eyes widened as she looked at Joe who looked like he wanted to cry.
He groaned and kicked the table, before he sat down and let his head fall in his hands
"I'll go talk to her," she told him, rubbing his shoulder
She went upstairs and softly knocked on the door and went in
"Hey JOJO," Brynn called softly, watching the girl sit on the floor, facing the wall
"Hi Brynny," JOJO called back and Brynn sat down near her
"Babe, will you tell me about this boy?" She asked, gently elbowing JOJO making her smile and turn to her
"His name is Zeke and he's in my class. He's always so nice to me, and makes me laugh and very honest and respectful," JOJO said
"He lost his parents in a car accident and he lives with his aunt. He's so brave and strong and sweet," she said with dreamy eyes, making Brynn smile at the innocence
"He's alot like dad." She then said and Brynn bit her lip to hide the smile
"Sounds like you really like him," Brynn commented and JOJO nodded
"I didn't mean to tell dad I hated him," she said, playing with her fingers and Brynn kissed her head
"I think he knows that pumpkin. How about, I go and talk to him?" Brynn asked and JOJO nodded
Brynn walked back downstairs to see Joe in the hall closet, looking for something
"Can I ask you something?" She asked, looking at where he sat looking through the shelves

He made a noise of acknowledgement
"How old were you when you liked your first girl?" She asked him, folding her arms
"Around 8 I believe," he replied
"So you telling JOJO she can't see this boy is kinda hypocritical," Brynn said, giving him a look
"I only want what's best for her babe. She's too young to go out with a boy, I mean what? First it's play dates, then dates, then babies, do you want that?" Joe asked and Brynn looked at him in disbelief
"What even- anyway." Brynn cut herself off, shaking her head, she realized Joe was just over-protective and it was making him a little crazy
"Joe, would you rather let her go to this little date they planned for weeks and learn for herself? Or keep her home only for her to want to go more. She's gonna get tired of you saying no and that'll lead to sneaking out," Brynn advised
"Maybe you're right." He said with a sigh as he got up and she wrapped her arms around him
"You need to let her grow up you know," she said with a gentle smile
"I wish I could have her little forever. It scares me how fast she's growing up." He replied, arms encircling her waist
"But you gotta let her," she replied and Joe nodded
"I love you," he said, pressing a kiss to Brynn's forehead
"I love you to," she replied, closing her eyes when his lips pressed against her skin
"I'll go talk to her," Joe said and she nodded, letting him go up to talk to JOJO while she went back to continue lunch
It was around 3 when the doorbell rang and Brynn squealed
"JOJO! Your friend is here!" Brynn called, stopping Joe from answering the door and instead answering it herself
"Hi there," she greeted and the boy's eyes widened
"You're Brynn from WWE!" He said amazedly and Brynn smiled
"You must be Zeke," she said with a warm smile to which he nodded
She invited him in and she swore he was about to faint
"You're Roman Reigns!" He said, jaw dropped
"You're the coolest wrestler ever. I have all your action figures and t-shirts, I dressed up like you for Halloween to, but I probably didn't look as cool as you," the kid was babbling now and Brynn watched as Joe cracked a smile
"I'll go get JOJO," Brynn said, excusing herself and smiling as she went upstairs and got JOJO, making sure she was ready
"So your dad likes this boy, even if he won't admit it." Brynn said, smiling as JOJO looked in the mirror
They walked downstairs to see Joe and Zeke talking very closely with smiles on their faces
Joe got up and grabbed his keys, ready to drop JOJO and Zeke to the ice cream place a few minutes away
"I'll bring you back some caramel toffee ice cream," Joe said smiling as he pecked her lips
"You better," she said smiling at him
"Have fun kids," Brynn wished, walking back into the kitchen when her phone rang
She bit her lip as she saw the name on the phone screen and she rolled her eyes and answered anyway
"What the hell do you want Fergal?" She asked, venom in her voice
"I want to explain everything to you Brynn, everything." He said, voice shaky
Brynn knew that as soon as she found out he was cheating, she left and never spoke to him again. She didn't really give him a chance to explain anything but did she really want to hear what he had to say? It could be good closure...
"Breakfast tomorrow?" She asked and she could practically see his smile
"At the cafe a little away from your house," he said and she nodded
"Sounds good, 8 tomorrow morning, see you then." She said and hung up
She could live to potentially regret this. But she should atleast give him the chance to explain, maybe they could be friends.
