My parents came storming into my room slamming the door behind me, frankly I'm in complete shock they normally call me before they come down to visit. They look simply perfect, like always, my mother with every hair in place and my father with his freshly pressed suit.
'Nicolette Marley Stone, what the hell are you doing?' I'm speechless and really confused, I jump off of Calli's bed seeming to forget Peter's presence all together.
'What are you guys doing here?'
My mother's eyes rake over my outfit and again I feel insecure. 'What in God's name are you wearing?' She pulls at the fabric of my skirt almost ripping the cheap material.
'I thought it was nice.' I defend my favorite skirt, my parents have never seen me in such casual clothes before. They always would expect me to wear dresses and always look my best but when I moved to uni it gave me freedom to wear skinny jeans and stuff that I actually felt comfortable in.
Although I did have a stash of normal clothes at Logan's house to wear around him, his house was my get away.
'Nice? Nicolette are you even listening to yourself? I demand that you go and change right now.' Her tone was harsh and I frantically looked over to my father for some reassurance but he had his hands on her shoulders showing me that he had sided with her.
'No I won't change my outfit because I'm comfortable and there is no way that I'm wearing a tight evening gown in the middle of summer!' Her face falls, I've never stood up to her before and it feels good.
I guess I gained confidence when I remembered that she doesn't control me anymore. 'What would Logan think? Having such a rebellious girlfriend, I bet he's disgusted.' Peter snikers from behind me and all eyes turn to his my father's wider than the rest.
'Nicolette! Who is this young man and why is he in this bed?' He almost screams, the colour drains from Peter's face as he scrambles to his feet. 'This is Peter.' I say without enclosing any other detail about him. 'Hi, don't worry I'm her...brother.' At this point I burst into laughter at his stupid lie, he obviously doesn't know who they are.
'Um Peter this is my mother and father and they know that you're not my brother.' He then joins me in laughter and a cough from behind us brings us back to reality.
'Who is this boy and why is he in this bed?' My dad repeats looking like he might actually lose his shit at any second. 'Peter is just a friend father.' I tell him the truth but I can see the steam coming from his ears already. 'Does Logan know that you have another boy in your room?' He snaps and then the anger starts to boils inside of me. They have no idea how much Logan has hurt me and they have no idea who he really is. 'I don't care if Logan knows or not .'
My mother gasps and I roll my eyes. 'Nicolette you are lucky to have a boy like Logan in your life so you shoudn't be throwing away your respect and manners for a man like this.' She points to Peter wrinkling her nose.
'You don't know anything about my relationship with Logan.' I seethe at the sensitive topic. 'We know that you're not being faithful.' My mother spits back at me. Peter holds my forearms as I try to advance forward successfully pulling me into his chest.
'Me and Logan broke up.' I decide to say instead of all of the hateful things that I want to yell at them.
'You did what? He was so good for you Nicolette.' My father says a hint of distaste clear in his voice. 'He's not the great guy that you think he is.'
'Nonsense, now tell me why you broke up with him?' My mother asks and I lean back into Peter for the support that I need. 'Broke up with him? He broke up with me!' They always assume the worst of me. 'Well that explains everything then.' My pupils dilate at her comment and I rip my arms away from Peter's tight grip. 'What!'
