a rough night

"Are you sure you don't want to go to the party? I'll sit with Fran instead if you want me to.." Shelli offered, soothingly rubbing my shoulder. "No thanks, I'll be ok. You have fun, alright?" She nodded and planted a kiss on the top of my head.

She then exited the room. It was just me and Frances.

So far, the night was going fine. I played and entertained her, and watched some t.v, her tiny person on my legs. She seemed awfully tired, so I gently put her yellow blankie on her, and let her snooze softly.

I took the free time to take a smoke out on the balcony. The cool nighttime breeze felt like a relief on my skin. I reached into my back pocket and retrieved my camels, and my blue lighter. I retrieved a cigartte and stuck it in between my lips before lighting it.

"Hey," a voice said, scaring the living hell out of me. I gasped, jumping a bit. I quickly turned around, my eyes meeting Kurts. They seemed to glow an electric blue, even in the dark.

"I didn't mean to scare you." He said, chuckling. I laughed and shook my head. "Its alright. So how's the party?" I asked, leaning on the railing. "It's ok. It seems like half of the state showed up and cramped inside the hotel room." He said, rolling his eyes.

"Oh, you could always just stay with Frances and I, ya know." I said, raising an eyebrow. "Yes please." He said, a sigh of relief slipping past his lips. I smiled slightly, happy to have some company. I took a drag of my cigarette, before stomping it out.

"Frances just fell asleep." I whispered as we walked back inside the hotel. He smiled as he looked at her. We both carefully sat on the bed, careful not to wake her up. "Yes! Beavis and butthead!" He whisper yelled, pointing at the tv. I giggled, and rested my head on his bony shoulder.

"You smell nice." I muttered, yawning. He chuckled.

"Get some sleep, Julia. It's been a rough night."
