Julia slowly woke up, her eyes focusing on the ceiling. She threw out her arm, expecting to feel Kurt, but she felt the cold bed sheet. She squinted, and slowly sat up.
"Kurt?" She called, her voice slightly raspy. She kicked the blanket off her legs, and slid off the mattress. "Kurt?" She called again, walking around the other side of the bed. Her eyes were directed towards the sliding door that led out to the balcony. She thought that he was maybe taking a smoke.
As she advanced towards the door, the suddenly tripped over something. It took her by surprise. She sat up, and turned around to see what had tripped her.
Her blood went cold. She felt the sudden incline to vomit.
Kurt was lying unconscious on the ground. His face was pale, and it had started to fade into a sickly blue color. He looked dead.
Her whole body shook as she scrambled to stand up. She raced to the phone, almost losing her balance. Her heart was thumping so loud, she was sure the 911 operator would be able to hear it.
As she explained the situation, she felt tears running down her face. Her voice was shaky, but she still tried to stay calm, and keep her gaze off of Kurts body.
She got off the phone, and immediately scrambled back over to him. She grasped onto his cold hand, and brought it to her lips.
"Please don't leave me here."
short but eventful, xo.
