Time had stopped. Everything was frozen in place, a stillness taking over. Julia's vision was becoming blurred, and she became lightheaded. Her heart was hammering beneath her rib cage, her legs unstable and shaky. The three words Courtney had just nasally reported to Julia kept repeating over and over again. She wanted it all the stop, hoping this was just some deluded nightmare, but it was a devastatingly real life.
"Julia?" She asked, her closest friends voice not present. Her lack of reaction had alarmed Courtney greatly. Julia didn't say anything, but instead, felt everything go black, her body hitting the cold, wooden floor of her apartment.

Her eyes fluttered open slowly, her vision blurred at the first few seconds of being conscious again. Her head ached, and her throat was dry as a bone. "W-What happened?" She asked, her voice hoarse.
Courtney, Dave, and Krist surrounded the hospital bed. "Julia, you fainted, honey." Courtney said gently. She inched closer to Julia, and took her hand. It all came back to her suddenly, the news she had just received before passing out.
A wet veil covered her eyes. She brought a hand to her mouth, trying to muffle the sob that broke out. She felt a familiar pair of arms wrap around her as she began to cry harder than she ever had in her entire life. Dave rocked her in his arms, feeling tears spring to his own eyes as she gasped in his hold.
The king of grunge had died, along with Julia's heart.
