A/N: This one is a bit longer and is gonna be sad... But I hope you like it.
WARNINGS: sad, angsty, violence
Y/N's POV
I knew that someday I would be gone... I just didn't know when.
Everything about my job involved risk, and revolved around the possibility that I might not make it back if something went wrong. It was one of my worst fears, especially when Bucky and I became more than friends. I was able to hide it and avoid that possible reality for a number of years.
But... sometimes your worst fears have a way of catching up to you.

He was strong, but so were we.
We could not let Thanos win.
I watched as he stepped through the portal, finally making his entrance into Wakanda. My lips were dry, and my pulse was racing as he slowly made his way towards where we all waited, positioned in front of Wanda and Vision. A familiar body stepped in front of mine protectively and I sighed as I looked up at Bucky.
"What are you doing?"
"He'll have to go through me first." He said, as he pulls out his gun, cocking it as Thanos slowly walked towards us.
"We have a bigger mission that just one life, James." I muttered, as I pulled my knives from where they were secured on my uniform.
"Yes..." Bucky looked forward. "But you're not going to die, not while I'm alive."
I open my mouth to protest, but it shuts as I watch my friends start to fight Thanos. I could only watch helplessly as Bruce was frozen into the rock face of the mountain, and as T'Challa was viciously punched and tossed to the ground like a rag doll. My breathing began to become more shallow as our enemy grew closer, and Bucky turned to face me. His blue eyes focused on my face as he stepped closer to me.
"I love you." He cupped my face in his hands and kissed me softly. "I just want you to know that...."
I nod as my eyes began to pool with tears, and I turned to look back at Wanda and Vision. They were talking, almost arguing, but after giving a shaky nod, Wanda stepped back and began to destroy the Soul Stone in the only possible way left.
She looked back at me with tears in her eyes, and my heart broke for her. The sacrifices we made were almost too much to bear.
I turned back in time to see Bucky running towards Thanos, his gun firing rapidly at his heavily armored body.
"No! Bucky!" I screamed as I watched him being knocked to the floor by a brilliant purple light, and remaining still on the earthy ground. My eyes locked with Thanos' and I knew that it was my time. I tossed the knives in my hands as he chuckled.
"Was that your lover little girl?" His lips turned in a smirk as he stepped closer to Bucky's unconscious body. "Are you going to avenge him?"
"Stay away from him." I said, with as much courage as I could muster. "Fight me if you must, but leave him be."
"it won't be much of a fight, if I knock you off your feet as quickly as I did to all your other friends." Thanos let his eyes drift to my knives. "But give me your best shot."
"With pleasure..." I muttered, glancing at my boyfriend once more before I making my way towards Thanos. All of the fear that was inside me turned into adrenaline, and I began to attack him. His gloved fist attempted to strike me, but I dodged out of the way, and sliced one of my knives across his chest. A streak of scarlet seeped through his top, but it didn't step to be deep.
