A/N: This is something a little different than what I usually do, but I really love it. I dedicate this in memory of my friend Jordan, who lost his life on February 27th, 2019. RIP . I miss you <3

The sunlight peaked over the horizon,  a gentle reminder that the day was beginning... that it was a new day with new opportunity.

But the blinds never opened. The figure curled up in the bed, buried beneath layers of blankets, did not want to get up. Her tears had just run dry, but she knew it would be a matter of time before they returned.

The seconds turned into minutes, and minutes turned into hours. The light past the blinds was growing brighter, and the girl knew she had to get up. But she could not find it in herself to move.

Her sore eyes flickered around the room, already noting the few chores that awaited her. But her gaze froze on the guitar case leaning against the wall, her already broken heart clenching as she recognized the battered and frayed edges of her friend's guitar case leaning against the wall.

Without a second thought, she stood from the bed and walked to the case. In a matter of seconds, it was open and the smooth wood of the guitar was in her hands. A small smile pulled at the corners of her lips as she saw the small flower details that made it's way up the neck of the guitar, and the Naruto sticker that was on the bottom of the guitar case.

The girl sat down, leaning against the edge of the bed as she took the delicate instrument in her arms. Quietly, she began to tune the instrument, as the memories began to rush through her mind. They had both inspired each other through the other's music covers published on social media,  which resulted in many covers over the past few years. But there was one that stood out the most.

A lump started to grow in her throat as she moved the capo onto the neck, and she took a deep breath before strumming the first chord.

"I met you in the dark, you lit me up."

They had met her junior year of high school, both stuck in the same terrible Pre-Calculus class. Although most of that time was just small jokes and occasional conversation whenever their teacher wasn't around, it was enough for her.

"You made me feel as though I was enough."

He graduated that year, and they kept in contact through social media. They had hung out a few times, and she felt close with him, especially with music. He was the friend that she needed, one that connected with her through music and through life itself.  She was so glad to have him in her life.

She kept singing, the words softly leaving her lips as her fingers intricately strummed the right notes with the correct rhythms.

"I know I needed you
But I never showed
But I wanna stay with you until we're grey and old"

The words were almost choked out as she sung the next words.

"Just say you won't let go...  Just say you won't let go. "

A small sob escaped her lips, and she placed the guitar on the floor before the tears began to run freely down her cheeks. A moment later, a gentle hand touched her shoulder, and she turned to see Bucky standing behind her. His eyes were soft as he looked down at his girlfriend, broken into pieces.

"I'm so sorry."

The girl stared up at him, speechless as he moved to sit next to her. There were no right words to describe her pain, her shock, to learn that her friend had passed away. All she needed was love... and Bucky had more than enough to give her.

His long arms wrapped around her, and she gently wrapped her arms around his torso, moving to sit in his lap before leaning her head against his chest as the tears continued to spill. "I-I'm sorry I didn't call-"

"Don't be sorry." His lips brushed against my forehead. "Just know I'm here for you, doll. I won't let go, doll. I promise."
