Chapter 07 | Vidan
The meet place was a warehouse owned by Kardenal in between his ice palace and the south gate to the inferno district. But the term warehouse probably wasn't correct, it was a two floor building empty on the first floor acting as a warehouse as a front.
The second floor was Kardenal's private club. Where his ice girls danced and his ice giants served wines. I walked through the first floor ignoring the dusty smell tickling my nose and made my way towards the diamond and steel elevator.
Mashing the button, I waited with patience for the doors to open. When it did I stepped inside, hitting the second button to the second floor and I looked at the three mirrors installed in the elevator. My hair was brushed back and I wore a button up with a pair of black slacks. The shirts top buttons were free but still I felt overly formal.
A ding informed me I was on the second floor and I stepped out into the new floor. My shoes squeaked against the marble polished floor as I looked around for Kardenal. On a silver stage girls moved around dancing elegantly with each other dressed in formal gowns making them look like ballerinas made of ice.
In front of the stage sat three white circular tables, with two black leather chairs at each flanking either side. On the other side of the room a gold and white bar looked oddly out of place with a giant man made out of ice behind it shaking a drink.
"Vidan Daniel Azul. It's been a few months," Kardenal hummed from across the room.
I turned noticing him leaning against the wall away from me his attention on the dancing ice woman. Everything about him screamed ice demon – from his white skin and white lips, to white hair and bright icy blue eyes. He wore a black shirt with a white tie and a pair of black slacks.
It had been a few months since I had last saw him. A few months ago father had brought me to a council meeting in place of mother as we spoke of trivial things going on around hell. However, despite the time frame Kardenal and I had been in connection ever since I turned ten.
It was my first time meeting the council, and he was the youngest council member ever to be on board with them. He had taken over for a man named Segal when father and mother had been named king and queen. When I was ten, he had just turned fifteen.
"You know I wouldn't call for you unless it was important. I called on a few other too," I told him.
His eyes widened in suspicion but he didn't speak. I knew he'd be annoyed that I was bringing over intruders into his special place but he trusted me and I knew he'd accept my decisions. He snapped his fingers, and a dancer hurried over handing him a glass of wine. He waved her off but not before I grabbed her arm. Her ice skin was freezing under me but she held no emotions as I stared at her.
"A new one." I stated looking at her.
She was different than the other ice girls. Shorter than the others, with her frosty gown more elaborate than the others. However that wasn't the only thing that I noticed. Her carved hair was carved long and down to her shoulder blades different than the others and her eyes had even been dyed gold.
Realizing who she was sculpted after I through my hand into her chest. She shattered into a million ice pieces and Kardenal sighed. I glanced over at him annoyed at his actions but he merely sipped on his wine.
"I let your gown fetish go, and I let even the girls go but make one looking exactly like her again and I'll smash them all," I threatened.
He shrugged unbothered, "I'll merely remake them."
My eyes narrowed on him and he merely blinked back at me. Of course she was always trouble. Even to the ice demon who held no feelings, of course his obsession was her. He felt things all for her.
Before I could speak again, the elevator sounded again and I knew Eric had arrived with Lola. She chuckled at something he said and I found a surprising anger in my heart. Spotting me Eric waved and trotted over, my eyes however slid to Lola.
Trading her maid uniform for a pair of jeans and a crop top with a woolly black sweater. Despite her very cute outfit, I could see the outline of a blade tucked into her jeans. However, Eric was the same – he wore his gloves but I noticed the sides of them were already unbuttoned. He also wore formal yet casual attire, opting his leather jacket for a suit one but otherwise casual.
"Are you going to let us know why you're holding a meeting?" Eric asked over his shoulder as he walked towards the bar.
I hummed, "I'd like to wait for Lithan and Digget first."
Eric groaned, knocking back a shot then took another. I knew he wasn't one to wait around nor was he one to group up but this was important. I watched him take two more shots and I began to worry about him getting drunk.
"The bartenders watering them down. He won't get drunk under my roof," Kardenal told me.
"Thank goodness, Eric can't hold his booze," Lola chimed in.
My eyes narrowed. I didn't want to know the circumstances that she knew he couldn't hold his booze. In fact, it made me want to strangle him. Lola caught my gaze and blushed slightly, calming my throbbing anger. I knew I was being ridiculous, and if I wasn't careful I'd grow as obsessive as Kardenal.
"Digget is confused, why did Vidan call Digget and Lithan?" Grumbled a deep voice.
"Something happen Vidan?" Lithan asked.
I looked up, not even realizing that the elevator had opened again but I now smiled at the two older boys. Both only five years older, they held a lot of knowledge of what happened before Odelia and I were born. Not only that but we had grown with them. They were loyal and could be trusted.
With everyone here I walked over to one of the tables, they followed after me as I sat down. Lola sat across from me as Kardenal sat on the edge of the stage allowing the other three to stand around. All eyes were on me and I crossed my arms over my chest.
"I want knowledge about a rising enemy. Then I want to diminish this threat," I stated simply.
Digget and Lithan glanced at each other which didn't go unnoticed by me as the others looked confused. I tilted my head, their reaction made me realize that perhaps this wasn't a rising enemy but an old one. Which made this even more dangerous.
"What rising enemy? We can take them out no problem," Eric boasted.
Kardenal hummed, "You act like you have the power to actually do so Flame."
"Like you think you do? Please. You can't even hide your obsession of Odelia," Eric snapped back.
This was starting to hurt my head and I slammed my palm onto the table. The room grew quiet and all attention was back on me. I glanced at Lola who bit her lip nervously.
"This threat is towards the king and queen of hell. Not only that but it would seem my parents are actually worried over this. I want to know who they are," I paused to slide my attention over to Digget and Lithan, "and idea?"
Again, they exchanged the slightest glance only confirming my suspicions. My head tilted as I watched them waiting for them to speak. Digget merely looked down with his beady eyes but Lithan's red ones blazed as he spoke.
"I don't know much. All I know is if it is who I think it is then this is a threat that would single handily wipe out all of hell and heaven."
Silence sunk in on us at Lithan's words and I realized that if what he said was true then father and mother had every reason to worry. Not only them but all of us. This definitely meant I would be taking action.
I looked at Lithan, leaning forward, "tell me everything you know."
