Chapter 22 | Vidan

"I'm here Odelia," my voice cut through the darkness calmingly, "It's alright, I'm here."

A small breathe sounded beside me, and I moved my hand through the darkness to wrap my arm around her. She relaxed in my grip but only for a moment before a bright light danced through the room.

Odelia's face turned away from the flash and towards my chest whilst I stretched my power through the room. My power snapped back as it found something on father's throne. Something dark was in this room sitting on father's throne.

Cronas.

"Odelia, leave the room," I murmured softly in her ear.

"No actually, I would love the future queen to stay," a child-like giggle cut through the room.

We tensed, and when the light cleared and dimmed slightly, Odelia gasped in horror. I struggled to maintain my resolve however, looking around the room that was entirely hard to do. The walls were splattered with blood – bodies and bodies of maids and servants littered the marble flooring and upon father's throne sat a child with mismatched eyes.

And in his tiny hands he grasped father by the hair.

I stretched my power towards father, and almost cried out in relief as I could sense his brain waves. He was unconscious and losing a lot of blood but alive. Beside the throne Caden lay unmoving with a gleaming sword shoved through his back, and Kitty was pinned to the wall with a large piece of marble shoved through her stomach.

"Uncle Caden?" Odelia called in a mouse voice, "Lady Kit?"

"They can't respond honey, they're obviously preoccupied," Cronas laughed tossing father to the side.

Father moaned softly, and I had to hold Odelia back from running over to him. We were the only ones that could stop this from getting any worse – we had to take care of ourselves first. Cronas clicked his finger on the side of the throne.

"You know," Cronas drawled out almost thoughtful, "I wouldn't have made it this far if Lucifer didn't decide to go visit my dear, daughter in the Almighty. You can thank him for all this."

My brows furrowed in confusion, Lucifer – father was currently on the ground bleeding out, what was Cronas talking about? I glanced at Odelia, who looked just as confused as I did. Whatever Cronas wanted to ramble on about, I sure as hell wasn't going to listen, but we needed to get Kitty and Caden and father out of that situation.

We need to distract him long enough to get the others to safety, I sent to Odelia who nodded firmly.

"We have no idea what you're trying to rattle on about but if you think we are going to fall victim to your lies then you are going to be greatly disappointed," Odelia snapped taking a steep away from me and towards him.

My eyes widened as I realized she misunderstood my words. I meant I would need to distract him not her. Before I could protest my hot-headed sister lunged across the room towards the fallen angel.

"Such a temper," Cronas giggled, jumping to sit on the backrest of the throne as she punched a hole through the seat.

I sighed, rolling my eyes and bolted first to father – he was my first priority. Cronas suddenly appeared in front of me, and without moving I was thrown back. I slammed into the wall, pain ebbing into my back and I groaned.

"Vidan," Odelia gasped panicked.

I waved her off and Cronas giggled, grabbing my sister by her hair and throwing her at me. I opened my arms to catch her before she also slammed into the wall, only to her the impact of her body slam us both back.
