Chapter 16 | Vidan
I was back, below hell itself in that unnecessarily long hall. The white tiles hurt my eyes as did the overly bright crème walls, so I kept my gaze on that oak door that stood at the very end of the hall. Reaching the door itself, I looked down.
Welcome!
I could only grimace at the mat in responds before I was slamming my knuckles against the oak. The door opened only a few moments later – the blonde demon with red eyes smiled at me. I could see a brief, flash of relief in her eyes.
"The future king returned – and on his own this time. How fortunate," she purred stepping back to let me in.
I didn't respond. More overly bright, white walls burned my eyes and I noted Segal sat on one of the two black couches with a book in his hand. I paused, taking in the detail of the room like I hadn't before.
The housing was simple. The living space had two black couches, a book shelf of books, and a coffee table. It connected to a kitchen which seemed more cramped in the small cooking space – a metal sink, overhanging cupboards, a black stove, and counter attaching it all. Between the living space and the kitchen, a black, wood circular table sat with three, metal chairs around it.
I noted the three doors at the very back wall of the living space as well – one was propped open and was clearly a simple bathroom, the other two I would only assume was a pair of bedrooms. Turning my attention back to the two demons, I took a seat on the couch opposite to Segal.
Finally, he looked up from his book with a small smirk. He placed the book down and my eyes flickered to the title. Erotica for the Wicked. My eyes widened and I quickly averted my gaze over to where the woman practically skipped over to sit on Segal's lap.
I cleared my throat, "You said to come back and I have. I need information."
"I'm curious why you need information so badly," he hummed.
My eyes narrowed.
"And yet I have no obligation to tell you. If you're just going to waste my time then I'm done here," I snarled, wishing my powers worked down here.
The woman clicked her tongue with annoyance, then raised her hand, "Relax. She will be here soon. Then, all your damn questions will be answered."
"Who?"
Segal's mouth twitched with a smile, "Our daughter."
As if on cue, the front door swung open, my head swung towards the girl who now walked in. She seemed a few years younger than myself, with long curly brown hair, and bright red eyes. I noted the black corset she wore, and the tight leather, black skirt she wore – I noted her neck was collarless.
"I'm home," she chirped with a bright smile before she paused noticing me.
Her head tilted with interest, "You're not Biolan."
"I am not. I am Vidan – I'm here for information," I replied back amused by the girl.
Her eyes widened, and step took a step back. A pout blooming onto her lips as she sent her parents a fearful, warily look.
"It's alright Poppy, come take a seat," the woman coaxed softly.
The girl – Poppy, nodded then moved to sit between Segal and the woman. I waited patiently until Segal whispered in Poppy's ear and her eyes flickered over to me. My brow rose in question and she nodded, pulling away from Segal slightly.
