Epilogue | Lucifer.
My children, oh how lovely they looked in slumber. Their hands clasped together, finger entwined and a smile rested on their faces. Together, forever. A sigh escaped my lips, and I found myself growing sad despite the peace.
"Lucifer," Enirr called, bringing me out of my thoughts.
I turned, my black locks fanned over my face as I did so, "It is Saanti now. I long left that title, and that life. One day you will too old friend. Perhaps you will even find love."
Enirr blinked slowly, "Why would I do that? We are angels, created not meant for love."
I rolled my eyes, he was still young. Thus patience I must hold dearly. It was only fortunate the guard of the abyss did not have any true hate for me. Especially after I left him for so long. Well, I would not point out to him he never ventured into hell to see me either.
Perhaps a thought for another time.
"Why did you ask me to lie?" Enirr then asked, nodding towards the embodiment of Cloud dressed in a white gown, "Why did you wish for me to tell her my blade erased a soul from existence forever?"
I shrugged, "I needed her to decide her fate, Cloud is always quick to fight but she never stops to think. Giving her the blade with such a description forced her to stop and either accept or reject the fight. Cloud needed to decide her worth, and where it is in the world. It was lucky the soul of the angel of construction did not fully merge with hers. Else, she'd be in the same situation as Maria."
"She did not think it so high if she used the blade," Enirr replied with a frown.
I chuckled, "The opposite. She decided her worth was much more than hell itself, worth enough to blanket it from Cronas forever."
"Another issue you have yet to explain."
"Ah, yes," I had almost forgotten about him, "Take me there."
Enirr sighed, but with the flick of his wrist we were moving through the darkness. Until we got to a space that shimmered like diamonds, and was as warm as the golden sun. There, Cronas lay on a grand white bed, in his arms resting upon his chest was a shell of a soul.
Maria.
"And he will not awake?" I asked to make sure.
Enirr nodded, "This space was, by your command, specially designed for him. His soul will not reprocess, nor will he awaken. I have also taken away his glory and his body. What you see is purely his soul. However, due to the fact that her soul was processed into Cloud when Cloud became the angel of construction; that is only the shell of how Cronas remembered her. That does not matter, he will dream of her regardless."
"Good," I sighed, what a relief, "Then I am done here."
"Wait."
I looked back at Enirr, annoyance spiked his often emotionless face, "You have not said what I should do with the soul of the angel of construction."
I grinned, "That, is completely up to you. The angels believe Cronas and Cloud were destroyed. Do what you want with such a soul, I trust you Enirr."
His eyes widened, then a small blush covered his cheeks. This was that angel I knew, the loyal one what would follow me to the ends of the universe. The one whom did follow me wordlessly out of the almighty itself.
"Very well," he said quickly, "Goodbye Lucifer."
And with the flick of his wrist, I was pushed right out of the abyss. I swayed as the dizzy fog began to clear from my brain, and peered around where he had dropped me off on the surface. Trees surrounded the area, a beautiful cabin sat among the trees. There, Grey sat sipping on a cup of tea. She looked beautiful, the way the sunlight danced across her face.
"My love," I called unable to suppress the smile on my face, "Do you want to go for a walk with me?"
She looked up, her eyes twinkled, "I would love that Saanti."
"Excellent," I chirped with a giggle, "Then we can play chess."
She groaned walking over to wrap her arms around my waist, "You always win."
I nodded, a smile on my face. She was indeed right, my beautiful angel, I always won. Against the foolish angels, against Cronas – and thus finally I could leave Lucifer behind, and live peacefully as just Saanti.
"I will teach you to win then my love," I mused.
She looked up at me, happiness in her heart, "I would love that. Do you think Lucas will be ok now? He is not truly dead. If he awakes and realizes Cloud is...will that not repeat fate?"
I shook my head, "If that ever happens, I will kill Lucas myself. He is our son however, we did not teach him to take the coward's way out."
She looked worried, and so, I pressed my lips to hers to silence any other thoughts. This was the peace we had fought for. I would not allow her to waste any second of it. Hell was at peace with the almighty. Our grandchildren were happy and at peace. Our son was happy, our Cloud was happy – I had even fought for Cronas' happiness.
Now it was time for our own happiness.
THE END.
