Chapter 24 | Odelia
A room of seven thrones lay in a circle. One of solid ice, that when caught in the bask of the overhead crystal chandelier it sparkled like thousands of the tiniest rainbows.
The next, was of solid gold. Mom had told me once, that the humans fought over the mineral. Killed over it, all because once, long ago Rapan decided to visit those pitiful creatures.
Beside the golden throne, was the one made of swords. Silver and iron – this was the throne of the general of hell. The true and upmost loyal warrior to his royal and darkest king. The sword, I imagine, was very uncomfortable and cold. But, what more fitting than the sword of Lucifer?
A throne of marble, with an overly realistic violet snake curling up one side screamed poisonous intent. However, clearly there was no creative design put into the thing. I mean, come on, a purple snake? It's as if he needed people to know he was of pure poison.
Then there was the two thrones of mom and dad that basically matched, not the time to be flashing couple goals but I wasn't one to judge. The only throne that actually seemed normal was the dark purple one, with a lighter purple throw cushion on it.
"Sister," Vidan hissed from beside me, "Are you listening."
I blinked, looking over at him, vaguely disgusted by the fact he was wearing a suit – and properly. That wasn't him, he didn't do that – he may be secretly mature but never so showingly. In fact, the whole council (excluding dad, and mom and now uncle Caden) were dressed in mature, and full black attire.
As if the king was going to die.
"Due to Lucifer being in a comatose state, with no obvious signs of waking and Cloud – who knows where, we must appoint a temporary ruler. Of course the only suitable ruler would be the first born, the king's son," Rapan spoke coolly.
Vidan glanced over at me and I said nothing. I didn't care right now, the anger pulsing through my veins were too loud. These demons were fools if they thought dad wasn't going to wake up. Clearly they knew nothing, Cronas wouldn't have dared killed dad. The plan he was implementing needed me and, he wouldn't do anything to tarnish my view of him.
The door opened and uncle Caden walked in. Shirtless, with bandages curling around his chest – from where Cronas had run him through. However, that didn't seem to bother him now, as he wore pants of holy silver and a sword strapped to his hip.
"Good morning, I have a few important announcements to make," he hummed.
Rapan leaned forward, "Caden take a seat. You are a council member, you are not to speak unless seated."
"That hardly matters now. Vidan may prove as the temporary ruler, although, he will not be the future king. The future ruler has already been chosen, and approved by the current king and queen," Caden replied sharply.
"What?" Rapan gasped.
Valor hummed amused, "Sounds like Cloud. No one knows the future ruler except those two, a very wise plan. Keeps the future of hell protected."
"But even from the council – sounds like they did not trust us – or one of us at least," Lady Karasek replied lowly.
Silence fell over us, as tension rose. My eyes widened at Lady Karasek's words, all my life my future role had been kept a secret. No one was told except us in the family. I just assumed it was to keep me safe but she did bring up an important question. Why not tell the council?
