Darkness rises

Veronica looked up at her father with wide trembling eyes.

"F-father..." She muttered in disbelief. At hearing Veronica say that, you turned around and your eyes widened at the unexpected guest in your home. You then smiled and jumped up from the couch.

"Pops!" You exclaimed and ran over to him. Veronica's father smiled at you and ruffled your hair.

"Y/N, it's been a while hasn't it?" You grinned and nodded. Plue also ran over to Veronica's father and smiled at him.

"Hello Jude." Plue greeted. Jude grinned at Plue and picked him up.

"Ah Plue! I see that you're doing fine as usual." Plue grinned and nodded. His eyes then widened when Veronica snatched him from her father and glared at him.

"What are YOU doing here?" Veronica spat out, annoyance and anger evident in her tone. Jude frowned slightly and straightened.

"What? Is it wrong to see my children?" Veronica growled and put Plue down. Astro gave Plue a questioning look.

"Children? I didn't know that you and Y/N were related to Veronica." Astro whispered. Kennedy nudged him in the side.

"I didn't know that you guys weren't siblings." Plue sweat dropped and glanced at Veronica who was glaring at Jude.

"Well, Y/N and I were adopted by our foster parents, Jude and Katrina Elenestria a year after the Black Plague happened. Sadly, Katrina died a year later. I still remember that day clearly..." Plue muttered as he looked down.

'Tears rolled down Plue's cheeks as the rain dampened his light purple fur. You stood beside him, a forlorn look on your face. Veronica was crouched down beside her mother's coffin, bawling her eyes out. Her father stood beside her holding an umbrella over her head, an unreadable expression on her face. One by one, everyone began to leave after paying their respects to Katrina. You too had left and returned back to the mansion. Plue glanced at Veronica before following you back.

You and Plue were trudging through the hallway when the two of you spotted Veronica. She was still in her black gown and her eyes were red and puffy. Veronica saw the two of you and scowled. She then stomped towards the two of you and glared at you.

"Why the hell are you still here!?" Veronica shouted. You gave her a blank expression. Veronica growled and gripped you by the front of your dress. "Don't you get it!? She's gone! The one person who let you stay here or even cared about you is gone! So why the hell are you...still..." Veronica broke down again as she fell to her knees and hugged herself. You reached out a comforting hand to her, but she slapped it away. "Stay away from me! You damn brat!" You clenched your fist. Plue growled and took a step forwards.

"Why you-" You stopped Plue short by holding a hand out in front of him. Plue looked up at you with wide eyes.

"Fine, we'll leave. We'll leave this house, and you. We'll leave this lifestyle because you wished of it." You told. Plue frowned slightly.

"Y/N..." Plue whispered. You turned around and took one step forwards. You then glanced back at Veronica who looked up at you and you smiled.

"Just so you know, you were always like a big sister to me, Veronica. Well, until we meet again. Farewell." Veronica's eyes widened as you and Plue walked down the hallway. Veronica wiped her tears away and held her hand out to you. She then took it back and gritted her teeth as she stared at the carpet beneath her.
