XIX

It's been two whole days, yet, she does not seem to be affected at all. 

At all. 

I stared at Lilliana from afar, she's acting as if nothing happened on Friday, she's taking the 'stay low' thing really seriously.

"Have you asked her out yet?" Chris suddenly whispered in my ear and I got startled.
"What the heck, Chris? Where'd you come from?"
"From home." I tsked at him, he's so annoying, "anyway, have you asked her out yet?"
"No," Lilliana told me to stay low and no one should know about our relationship, I'm assuming that included Chris.
"What are you still waiting for? Ask her out already!"
"Chris, are you perhaps looking for a death wish?"
"No."
"Then, shut up."
"Sorry."

I heard from the daily notices that there'll be another 'buddies' program, the year tens get partnered up with a year eight student and the year sevens get partnered up with a year nine. It's supposedly supposed for you to make new friends and get to know about students in other year levels.

We have to do a list of things together and get to know each other and then hand it to the teacher, whichever pair finishes the list first gets tickets to the amusement park as a prize. Over the years my partners and I never got the prize.

Year tens get the year eights though, so I'm keeping my hopes up high that I get Lilliana, it'll be so much easier if it's with her and not some random students. 

Year tens and eights gathered in the gym while the sevens and nines gathered in the hall. I could hear those obnoxious girls going 'oh, I hope I get partnered up with Felix' or the boys going 'I hope I get to hang out with Felix through this'. Do they realize I'm here and I have the ability to hear?

All the names are randomized, and the teacher one by one read out the pairs on the list. I ended up with a shy little boy called Isaiah. I mean, what was I expecting, of course, I wouldn't be partnered up with Lilliana. I hope she doesn't get some cute guy though.

A teacher approached me and started talking to me, "Felix, Isaiah isn't here today, he's sick. So, we'll be assigning you a new partner instead."
Huh? "Then, who's my partner?"
"Daniella, Matthew and Lilliana don't have partners either. Do you want to be partnered up with one of them?" Thank you, Lord for helping me, I didn't think there would be any chance for me to be partnered up with Lilliana.
"Yeah, can I partner up with Lilliana?"
"Of course," the teacher said, scribbling on to the piece of paper she's holding, "you can go find her now."

I looked around the gym, I found her on the other side and I walked up to her.
"Who was your partner before?" I asked her
"I think it was Ezra, but he hurt himself and went home early." Ezra? Phew, it's a good thing he's gone.

Once everyone found their partners, each pair was given pages of paper that were stapled together.

There was a list of things we have to do together and take a photo of as proof, then there were two more pages where we have to fill in our partner's information and interests.

This will be easy.

"We should start with the activities first," Lilliana suggested as she fell on to the sofa.
"Sure, I guess. Which one?" 
Lilliana scanned the paper up and down before pointing at one of the activities, "how about this one?"
I read the activity out loud from the piece of paper, "watch a movie? But, we'll have to go all the way to the cinemas."
"It doesn't say that it has to be at a cinema." I looked at her with confusion and she rolled her eyes, "oh my lord, you're so slow, we can just watch it online stupid." I made an 'O' shape with my mouth showing that I understood it now.

I grabbed my laptop from my room and turned it on, "Which movie do you wanna watch?" I asked her.
"What about 'Crazy Rich Asians'?"
"Oh, I heard that it's a good movie."

I grab a packet of microwave popcorn and put in the microwave, Lilliana and I watched it pop. When the popcorn was ready I poured it out of its packet and into a bowl bringing it to the coffee table in front of the sofa.

I turned off the lights and pressed the space key to start the movie. I brought my knee up to my chin and hugged my legs, Lilliana crossed her legs stuffing her face with popcorn. She was really into the movie, putting all of her attention on the movie.

Then, I remembered we have to take a picture as proof. I took my phone out from my pocket and raised it in the air, "Lilliana, look this way." She didn't, she's too committed to the movie. I took a selfie of us anyway.

"No! Why?" I got startled by her sudden scream.
"Calm down, Lilliana."
"But- her mum lied to her, her father didn't die and now Nick's mother and grandmother won't let her marry Nick just because of this." 

I didn't say anything, I just watched Lilliana get emotional silently. Her eyes were getting teary and a tear was on the brim of rolling off. I grabbed the box of tissues beside me and gave it to her. This movie isn't supposed to be a sad movie, I guess she just gets emotional easily.

I put my arm over her shoulders and she looked at me with those now red eyes.
"What do you think you're doing, Felix?

So I can't put my arm on her but indirect kisses are okay? What sort of logic does she have?

A/N

Thank you to the very few readers I have for waiting. So, I got handed out seven assignments, I handed three in already. I didn't have much time to write so yeah. 

I watched 'Crazy Rich Asians' last week with a friend, and she cried, I didn't though :)

Not so fun fact: I'm Aussie but my ethnicity is Chinese. Surprise surprise, my friends and yes I can speak, read, understand Chinese, I'm fluent.

Also, I didn't edit so don't mind the mistakes.
