Good news, it's my last year of high school. Bad news, it's the start of a new school year. I walk into the school and met up with my friends which consisted of Norton, Howard, Kerby and Chris.
"Hey, long time no see Felix," said Howard.
"It's not that long, only two months."
"Isn't that long enough?" asked Norton.
"Nope, not really."I left the rest of them to talk while I walked towards the year 10 locker area. I opened my locker and I found a small envelope in there, I opened the envelope and there was a small, pastel pink piece of paper inside it.
Dear Felix
I would like to meet you in the courtyard after school, it won't take up much of your time, just a little while.
From anonymous xx
judging by the colour of the piece of paper and the heart sticker on the envelope it's probably going to be a confession by some girl.
Typical.
I put the note back in my locker. It's not easy being the school hunk, I don't even want to be labelled as the school hunk.
I grabbed my English book and history book before locking my locker, I sprinted to the main block to avoid all the people. I slowed down my pace when I reached the glass door, I saw a group of girls behind me following me in the reflection taking pictures of me on their phone.
"Look, it's Felix!" one of them yelled.
I thought the main block would be free of people in the morning, but today is that one day where people just decide to hang out there out of all the other days. There's no getting out of it now, everyone is staring at me.
"It's Felix!" one of the girls yelled
Soon, crowds of people came swarming in the main block, not just girls but boys as well. Including some of the newbies, by newbies, I mean the year 7 students. I can hear some of them asking the year 8s and 9s what's going on.
"Who's that?" a short girl asked the year 8 boy
"The school hunk, most admirable person in the school. All the girls like him and all the boys admire him. That's what everyone says."Then, the bell rings and some people leave for their classes, while others keep following me. I walk to the top floor where my homeroom will be. My legs are on autopilot and it takes me to room 325 where my homeroom is every year, I practically know this school inside out.
As I entered the classroom the people following me walked away to their classes. My homeroom teacher - Ms Bonham - sat at the front of the class and waited for the majority of the class to arrive before marking the roll. I walk to the right side of the class where the window is and sat there.
"Mark?"
"Here!" Mark screamed from the back of the classroom
"Kayla?"
"Present." I can't believe Kayla's actually on time, for once.
"Kimmi?"
"Here."Ms Bonham paused for a little and adjusted her big round glasses, she squinted her eyes and looked at the piece of paper.
"Felix?" she said with the last syllable trailing out of her mouth as if she's not sure if that's what's written on the paper.
"Here Ms," I repliedShe continues marking the roll as I sit there quietly zoning out into space. It didn't take long before she started reading the daily notices.
"Waterpolo team meet after homeroom in the gym. Is anyone on the team?" no one said anything, "If you are involved in the band, band rehearsal is on during lunch in the band room. Anyone in the band?" a few of the people put their hands up in the air but swiftly put them down again. I'm in the band but I couldn't be bothered to raise my hand, it's not like she needed to know anyway.
"That's all the notices today."
And just in time the bell rings, everyone ran out of the classroom and emerged into the big crowd of people. Luckily my English classroom is on the same floor as my homeroom so I don't need to walk too far. As I walk towards my next class everyone moves to the side and makes a clear path for me. Honestly, it's nice that I don't have to squeeze through the crowd, but can't I live like every other person at this school?
When I reached the classroom it was empty of students, I walk to my usual seat at the side of the classroom where the window is and waited for my friends.
"Hey, Felix." I look up to see who it is, and I saw Chris.
"Hey," I answered softlyHe takes a seat at the table next to me and unloads his books from his bag. After a while, the students start filling in the seats and Mr Takala - our English teacher - claps his hands to bring everyone's attention towards him.
~~~~
The bell goes off and everyone rushes out of history class and goes off to where they need to go. I put my legs on autopilot and walk to my locker to get my snack for recess and my books for the next class, I open the glass door to the courtyard and meet up with my friends.
When I reach my friends there was no one following me, but in the corners of my eye, I can see some girls taking pictures of me and some of the boys watching my every move.
"Oh my gosh, he's so handsome," the girls behind me squealed
"Still popular after three years huh Felix, impressive."
"Go away Kerby, you try being the school hunk for three years with people following you everywhere and taking photos of you." I smacked him on the back of his head.
"Hey guys, you wanna hang out at the mall after school today?" Norton asked
"Hell yeah," Howard and Kerby said in unison
"What about you Felix?"
I look up from the floor to answer him, "I'll pass, I have something to take care of after school."
"What's more important than hanging with your best buds?" asked Howard in an obnoxious tone
"Rejecting girls' confessions," I said in a cold tone like frost was coming out of my mouth.
"It's only the first day of school and already?"
"Mmhmm."
"Why don't you accept any of the confessions? We're here single as hell and you're there getting all the confessions but not accepting any? Why?"
"I've told you before and I'll say it again, it'll distract me from learning music and disrupt my music career. I don't like any of them anyway."~~~~
After the school has emptied of all the students I walk to the courtyard with the note from this morning in my right hand.
Under the gum tree, there was a girl. Possibly in year 10? I don't think I've seen her before. I approach her and she turned to face me.
"Is it you who gave me the note?"
"A-ah yes," she stuttered
"What do you want to tell me?"
"Umm...I just want to say..." she paused a little but soon continued talking, "I-I like you." she quickly put her hands over her now bright red cheeks. Just like I expected, a confession.
"I'm sorry, but I don't even know you," I replied coldlyHer eyes grow as round as a tomato and stared at me, "Wha-what? I'm Susie, we've been in the same school and year level for four years and you've never even noticed me in? Am I that insignificant?" she said tears on the brim of rolling off.
"I'm sorry, but I don't feel the same. my heart is already reserved for nothing else and no one else but music." I said as I ripped up the pastel pink note and threw it on to the floor. I walked away coldly without even turning my head to look back, I can hear her sobbing loudly but that's none of my business.A/N
This story is set in Sydney, Australia. I live in Australia, therefore I know how high school works there. I don't know if it's the same for other countries, but high school in Australia is from year 7 all the way to year 10. So Felix is in his last year of high school which is year 10, 16 years old.
I am merely writing this book for fun, therefore I only update this book when I feel like it. I know this book won't get many reads, but for those people that are reading this, YOU ARE AWESOME!
SARANGHAE!!
(edit: turns out the high school system in sydney is different from where I live in Australia. Sydney is 7-12 but where I live is 7-10, but I'm not fixing it since it'll change a lot of things in the story.)
