Chapter Five

There were moments in life that just pleasantly surprised you. Right now was one of those moments. I stared at the screen in disbelief. He had written a whole page by himself. I read through it and I was shocked that it actually sounded like a great story.

I stared at the screen in awe. "Zayn, this is good!" I exclaimed.

He turned to me with hopeful eyes. "You think so?"

I nodded, "Yes, it is! Where are you thinking about going with it?" I wondered, looking back at the screen.

For the first time, I was actually expressing genuine enthusiasm. I loved reading and writing books. Anything to do with literature really and this really did sound amazing. Never thought Zayn would have such talent. This boy was apparently bent on surprising me today.

He glanced away. "They're going to be happy." He said surprising me.

I was a little confused. That wasn't really what I meant but I couldn't say he was wrong. Not every story ended happily. If we could tell our own stories then we'd definitely want them to be happy. Though it was a little common right?

"That's good. But don't most stories end like that?"

He shook his head. "Not always. Ever heard of a tragedy?" He went on to ask me.

I nodded. That was my whole life.

He narrowed his brows at me. "Why? You think you could do better?" He suddenly questioned.

I looked at the screen. A smile tugging at my lips. "No, it's good. I'm impressed." I whispered softly.

"Well, then go ahead and start adding to it."

I frowned down at the screen.

He chuckled from beside me. "What? You don't expect me to do all the work do you?" He asked.

"No, it's just I don't want to ruin it. It's so good." I admitted.

He turned away. "I doubt you'd ruin it." He muttered.

I suddenly felt a sense of dread as I remembered what I'd told Principal Styles. "I'm staying for dinner," I blurted nervously.

I figured it was better to get that out of the way now while he was sort of in a better mood.

He turned to me, rolling his eyes. "Great." He said sarcastically.

I frowned, "I'm sorry. He invited me and I thought it was rude to say no. I can go to tell him I can't stay if you'd like that bet--"

He shook his head. "No, don't do that. Whatever, it's fine." He assured.

Only I could tell it wasn't. Maybe it was my emotions taking control but my tear-filled eyes turned to angry feelings.

"You can't last even half a minute can you?" I snapped.

He peered over at me. "What?" He questioned.

I frowned, "Nothing."

"It's something. You're in my room so I have a right to know."

"I should leave this was a mistake," I said getting to my feet.

He reached out and grabbed my arm causing me to flinch automatically.

"Let me go," I squeaked.

"Woah, relax," he said letting me go.

I was beyond embarrassed now.

"I really need to leave."
