Chapter Eighty-Six

There was something clearly wrong with this picture.

Miles relented, letting my hand go and we both shared a confused glance as we face them. None of them looked all that amused to see us and to be honest, I wasn't either and something told me, neither was Miles. Why was Liam with them and why was he beside Lita?

"Lita." Miles greeted awkwardly, clearing his throat.

They shared a look and instead of focusing on them, I turned my attention to the oddball in the group. "Liam, what are you doing with them?" I asked.

He looked at me, stepping away from Lita as he approached me. "Maggie will be over later." He explained, ignoring my question.

My eyes furrowed, "Okay. Why are you with them?" I questioned again, looking past him at them and they all glared in our direction.

He glanced over his shoulder at them and especially Zayn. "Trust me, it's not by choice. Mrs. Hutchins decided it'd be a good idea to pair me with Lita in science. We have to do some kind of project together." He shrugged, turning back to me with a sigh.

"Does Maggie know about this?" I asked softly.

"Yes. Don't worry she knows and she's okay with it."

"Okay. So, are you staying after school or something?"

"No. I—"

"He's coming over to my house to work on it." Lita interrupted and we turned to her in shock and annoyance.

"You're going to her house?" Miles asked, speaking for the first time since they approached.

I gazed at him noticing the shock and slightest of jealousy in his forest eyes.

"Now he cares about her?" Melinda muttered under her breath and I glared in her direction.

Lita ignored her and kept her gaze on Miles. "Yes, He is. We have to do this project somehow." She spoke in annoyance.

"You couldn't do it in class or stay after school and do it?" I asked this time.

Liam frowned, "Gummy bear."

Lita turned to me with heated eyes. "Not that it's any of your business but we decided to do this together. He said coming over to my house wouldn't be a problem."

"Liam?" I asked turning to him.

He gave me an uncomfortable frown as he rested his hand on my shoulder. "I agreed to go to her house because I knew you wouldn't be comfortable with her being at our house. Maggie knows about it and she's okay with it but if you're not—"

"No. It's just...you didn't have to do that just because of me." I frowned.

"It's not a big deal. I just thought it'd be easier on you this way." He explained with a soft smile.

"You could have done it at the house. I mean, it is your house."

"I know but I decided on this." He shrugged.

I sighed, "Okay. Well, are you going to drop me off on the way or—"

"No. Um—"

"He's riding with me." Lita interrupted and my eyes narrowed in confusion.

"He's riding with you too?!" Miles question and again she glared at him.

"Yes, he is. Is that a problem, Miles?" She demanded, crossing her arms under her chest.

I eyed her than Liam as he frowned down at me. Miles was also frowning but not out of shock like I was. He was jealous while I was horrified. This clearly wasn't right as Lita and Liam shouldn't be together in any sense.
