Chapter Twenty-eight

Alright, Zayn what were you going to do? He stared back at me a dangerous smirk flashing across his lip. Challenge accepted. I wasn't frightened in the least. I had Liam and Maggie here with me and I knew the former would not allow any harm to come to me. He always had my back and I didn't expect that to change now.

"Zayn, what is she talking about?" Melinda demanded in annoyance, acting like she didn't believe a word of what I said. In truth even I didn't know what he might say. Would he tell her the truth or lie? Come on, Zayn what are you going to do?

"She's clearly delusional." Alright, so that's how we were going to do this? My blood boiled with anger.

"Delusional? You were at my house the other day and I had to kick you out because you knew things you shouldn't have. Who's lying now?" Liam was marveling at my bravery I could tell. Even I didn't know where it was coming from but right now, I couldn't be stopped even as my chest tightened, and I feared a heart attack or panic attack for that matter.

"She knows I was at your house. I know we both know what happened. Considering you said it was nothing I'm wondering exactly what you're going to say happened. Maybe you're going to tell a lie," he replied voice as smooth as silk.

"What happened was I got upset because he knows more about my family life than he should." Didn't expect me, to tell the truth, did he?

"Well, Loser that isn't hard to do. Your family has a ready-made sob story," Melinda quipped.

"And you don't have a dad," Liam returned, effectively making a scowl appear on her face.

"Neither do you," she shot back.

"I don't need a dad. I've been fine without one, but I can tell it affects you. No wonder you're always begging for attention."

"Watch it," Zayn spat.

"Everyone, calm down," Maggie frowned. Right now, she was the only one who knew better than to be combative. I had no idea what was going on with me right now.

"You wouldn't answer the question before so maybe you will now. How do you know all this stuff about my family?" I challenged. His glare turned into a cruel smirk and I knew what would come out of his mouth next wouldn't be good for my feelings.

"Loser, you are delusional. I don't even know you or your family."

"That's a lie and you know it," I growled.

"No, I don't know it. Going to your house was the last thing I ever wanted to do. You are every bit the freak everyone says you are and right now you're proving that."

"Don't you speak to her that way!" Liam barked, getting to his feet and Zayn followed suit.

"What is going on here?" Mrs. Hollowell demanded, coming into the room her eyes narrowing in on us.

"Nothing! Just getting harassed by psychos," Melinda responded dramatically.

"Last time I checked you didn't even have this class, Miss Aaron. Now I suggest you leave. As for the four of you. I hear one more thing or see anything from any of you and you're going to the office. Three of you have already been before and at least one of you is familiar with it."

One guess as to who that was. More importantly, why was I, and especially Maggie being threatened into going to the office? We hadn't done anything. It was these testosterone-filled guys that were causing another fight and Melinda who was being an instigator as she always was.

"Whatever," Melinda rolled her eyes, turning to press an incredibly long and in my opinion sickening kiss on his lips which even seemed to surprise him.
