Chapter Sixty-Three
It gave me some comfort to know he was still acting in some of the same ways as he normally did. I wanted to know that he wasn't completely damaged from this. It's the last thing I wanted for him or anyone in my life. He couldn't let this ruin his life and I wouldn't allow him to do so.
"No it looks fine like it always does," I smiled sadly and walked over to sit beside him.
I couldn't hide my sadness at this point as it was a sad time for both of us. There was no reason to hide it or to pretend it wasn't there. That wasn't going to help us at this point.
"Who brought you here? Liam?"
"Yes, he and Maggie are waiting outside. Sorry I didn't call first."
"No, it's okay um they didn't want to come in."
"I didn't ask. This is something I knew I needed to do on my own."
"Yeah I guess we do need to," he trailed off.
"We do," I agreed.
"Aris I'm so sorry. I never wanted you to see that. Sure I never wanted to get caught but it's more than that. I never wanted to hurt you. I swore from the beginning I wouldn't do that. I'd make you happy and you'd finally have a man who'd love you and treat you how you deserved to be treated. I was drinking and things got out of hand. I never wanted to bring you and Sunny into that.
I understand if you hate me. I understand if you both do. I understand if Nick hates me and I can take the blame for that because I deserve it. I just don't want Sunny to take the blame for it or any of you. I was the bad boyfriend who wasn't there for you like I needed to be and I'm sorry."
"Reggie I wasn't exactly the best girlfriend to you either. I didn't spend the time with you I should have. Didn't put my time into the relationship with you when I should. I was going to Zayn's house, Miles's house. Even if I told you that shouldn't have happened. You were patient with me when you didn't have to be. You gave me chance after chance and comforted me.
You worked on our relationship and tried your hardest to make it worse and not give up on us. That's something I never could repay you for. I made mistakes too. You knew how I felt about both of them. You stuck with me as long as you could and I'm grateful for that. I don't like the way it ended and it hurt me but it was meant to happen. I believe that."
"I could tell you didn't want the relationship to keep going sometimes and I believed that was my fault. You loved those guys and measuring up to them wasn't going to be easy. I really tried as much as I could. I wanted to believe I could make everything okay and make you happy. I really tried and I really liked you. I do like you. Your really a beautiful girl, truly."
"I know Reggie you don't have to explain it to me. I know you tried your hardest to make it work. I saw you fight to make that happen. In the end, we just couldn't make it work. Either of us."
"I know and I really wish it had sometimes," he admitted.
"Me too but I notice you said sometimes."
"I'm sorry Ariel. I like and love you as much as I can. Your an amazing person and you always have been. I was so lucky to date you and everything about you made me want to date me. It's just when we dated I didn't feel like it could work. When you loved these other guys and I-
"You love Sunny don't you?"
He looked at me in shock.
"She told me she loves you."
"She did? You've talked to her?"
"She came over to Kayin drunk the other night so I took care of her and she stayed at my house. We talked and I forgave her. Just like I've forgiven you."
