This is a lil sad but I did it for a reason
Anyways I hope y'all have/had a good day, enjoy 💙Calum
"Are you ready?" I asked Emily who was in the bathroom looking at herself in the mirror. "You look beautiful." I said and she blushed.
"Thank you." She said walking out of the bathroom. "Parker are you ready to go?"
"Mumma will Maggie be there?" He asked as Emily put his jacket on.
"Yes Parker, Maggie is always there. Maggie has been there since I was a kid." She laughed taking his hand.
"Who's Maggie?" I asked following the other two out the door.
"She's my dog. Well not my dog, she's our family dog. We got her when I was ten, she's getting old though." Emily frowned.
We drove to her parents house to drop Parker off, which I sat in the car while she went inside because we weren't quite at a point of me meeting her family.
"Alright, let's go." She said getting back into the car. I drove to the restaurant and we got seated.
"I'm so excited about this." She smiled looking at the menu. "I've never really been able to go out and do things, I had a kid when I was fifteen, and you know Andrew didn't take me out."
"Well then I'm honored to be the one taking you out." I said smiling. We ordered our food and went back to talking. "I'm glad this is finally happening, I've been preparing myself to ask for a bit." I laughed.
"I've been waiting for you to ask." She chuckled. "And we actually get to have a moment with no kids."
"Yeah, that's definitely different." I said. "So, tell me about yourself, like your interests and such."
"I really like art. Drawing, painting, music, it's all always kinda been something I've done." She shrugged. "My dad taught me a lot about painting too and it stuck with me. That was what we did together when I was little."
"That's really cool actually." I said taking a sip of my water and our waiter placed our food down in front of us.
"Yeah, uh there's not much else really. I have three siblings. An older brother who's a year older then me, so he's twenty one, and two little brothers. One's sixteen and one's fourteen. The age difference isn't a lot but it's weird because two of us are on our own and two of us aren't but I love them." She smiled eating some of her food.
"I have a sister, but I hardly see my family." I frowned.
That was true. After amber had Eden I moved out of town. I was surrounded by toxic people who only wanted to get into trouble, which before Eden wasn't a problem. They were my friends and that's what we did. But after she was born it continued and I didn't want that for me or her so I moved.
"That's really sad honestly." She said looking at me. "I mean I'd be sad if I didn't see my family much. They've just done a lot for me."
"It definitely sucks. I just had an awful group of friends because I was an awful kid, but Eden was born and I wanted to be in a better place for her." I shrugged.
"Anyway, how's your food?" I asked right as her phone started ringing."I'm sorry." She frowned answering her phone. "Hello? W-what? Okay, yeah I'll try to get there soon." She said before hanging up.
"Is everything alright?" I asked.
"Uh, no." She breathed. "We need to go to my parents house. Somethings wrong with Maggie and Parker isn't okay. I'm sorry Calum." She frowned standing up.
"No reason to be." I assured her, paying for our food and going to the car. "Do you know what exactly happened?" I asked keeping my eyes on the road.
"Well she's getting really old so she already had some problems, but she was getting worse recently, my dad just said it was time." She breathed. "Which wouldn't be as dramatic right now if my son wasn't there. He's going to be so upset."
I frowned as I pulled up to her parents house and turned the car off.
"Will you come with me?" She asked getting out.
"Of course." I said following her inside.
"Mumma!" Parker cries reaching for her and Emily frowned picking him up.
"Hey. You're okay." She whispered rubbing his back. "What's happening?" She asked, I'm assuming her father.
"She's going Em. She wouldn't eat anything, she was barely moving earlier, and now she won't move." He sighed. "Everyone is in the family room with her."
"Did you call Owen?" She asked.
"Yes, he's on his way." He replied and then we followed him to where everyone else was.
"Oh my god." She frowned setting Parker down and he whined.
"Mumma." He said reaching for her to pick him up again. I frowned and stepped over to him.
"Come here Parker." I said. Emily had sat down so I sat next to her and lifted Parker onto my lap. "Hey, it's okay." I said rubbing his back. Emily was talking to her family and they were doing their thing.
"No." He cried into my chest. It was sad, this whole thing was sad, but for a child they don't understand why certain things happen.
"I know you're upset Park, but it's okay yeah?" I said rubbing his back. "Things like this happen, okay? For whatever reason, maybe she was sick, maybe she was just old, but it's okay because you know what?"
"What?" He asked rubbing his eyes.
"She won't be hurting anymore." I said hugging him and Emily looked over and smiled, then mouth 'thank you'.
"Do you want to come home with us Parker?" Emily asked and he nodded. "Okay, come here." She said picking him up. She said goodbye to her family and then we got in the the car.
The car ride home was silent. Emily was quiet the whole time with tears rolling down her cheeks and Parker was just being quiet like he always is. When we got home Parker was asleep so Emily carried him inside and then carefully laid him down.
"Are you okay?" I asked following behind her as she walked down the hall.
"No." She said walking into my bedroom. "Can I sleep in here?"
"Yeah of course but-"
"I want to lay down and I want you to lay down with me." She said. "I'm going to change. I'll be right back." She said walking into the bathroom. I quickly threw on some sweatpants and laid down waiting for her. When she came back she climbed in bed next to me.
It was weird that she asked because it's not something that's happened before, but she's upset and I'm not going to say no because I really don't mind anyways.
"Is it stupid for me to be really sad right now?" She asked looking at me.
"Of course not." I told her. "These kind of things are hard."
"I know it's silly but like she was my pal." Emily pouted. "You know when I was fourteen I went through a really dark time and lost everyone basically, but you know who doesn't leave you? A dog."
"I know Em." I frowned wrapping my arms around her. "I'm sorry."
"I'll be okay." She sighed. "But Parker has been around her since he was born, he's devastated." She mumbled moving closer to me.
"You could always get him a dog someday." I suggested. It's not going to really help a whole lot, but it's really the next best thing.
"I wish I could get one now, he deserves it." She sighed closing her eyes. "Goodnight Calum."
"Goodnight Emily." I smiled holding her close. This is what I want, I want it to be her and I, our kids, together.
