Calum"Today's the day." I said walking into Ashton's house. Today's the day that I'm going to ask Emily to marry me. Well, tonight actually.
"Um, good morning." Ashton said. It was only about eleven so it's not like I was there super early. "I thought you were coming later?" He asked.
"I couldn't waited, I'm nervous." I huffed, sitting down on his couch. "What if she says no? What if I've had the wrong idea this whole time?"
"I wouldn't worry about that." Hannah chuckled. "She is pregnant with your baby right now."
"But Amber was too and she left." I groaned. "I can't do it. Maybe I shouldn't. Maybe this is a bad idea." I said frantically.
"You already bought the ring. You already told Eden and Parker, calum. You're doing it tonight. It's going to go great and she's going to say yes." Ashton said. "Let's go over it again, okay? Tell me what the plan is."
I took a deep breath before speaking.
"Okay. The kids are staying with Luke at least until we're home. Emily thinks I just planned a date so we're going to like an early dinner and then going to walk around some flower fields and I'm going to do it there I think. I've got a whole speech planned out like everyone does I don't know. I feel like it's not enough." I sighed. I thought it was special but maybe it's really not.
The whole proposal thing has been so stressful for me because all I can think about is if it's not good enough. What if Emily says no? Or what if something goes wrong?
"She's going to love it Calum." Hannah said. "I promise you she will. Don't stress about it too much."
"I agree. You got this man. Don't overthink it and don't stress. You two love each other a lot and it's so obvious." Ashton smiled. "Now go home and get ready. You got this."
"Okay. I got this." I repeated, walking to the door. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, now go." He said pushing me out the door laughing a bit. I sighed then got in my car, making the drive home.
"Mumma Eden took the blue!" I heard Parker whine when I walked inside.
"Please stop Parker." Emily sighed. "We just talked about sharing didn't we bud? You weren't using that blue crayon until Eden picked it up."
"I'm back." I said quietly as I walked into the kitchen. "Sorry I had to leave."
"Daddy." Eden mumbled reaching up for me. I sighed and picked her up.
"It's fine." She assured me. "I've just been trying to keep things calm here and clean up. But I was thinking-"
"Oh no." I joked and she rolled her eyes playfully.
"Shhh." She laughed." I was thinking maybe we have our date another night? Parker hasn't really been behaving today and Eden told me not too long ago that she doesn't feel good huh?" She said softly to my daughter and she nodded.
"I- uh. I'm sure they'll be okay right? We still have the rest of the day. Eden can rest and I know Luke won't mind. Maybe Parker just needs some time?" I suggested. There was no way we are rescheduling this date.
"It's not a big deal calum." She shrugged. "But okay, we'll see then."
I frowned at her reaction. Obviously I can't tell her why it's so important but it is and it's not something I want to plan for another day.
"I'm sorry baby, it's just a put a lot of effort into this. I don't want to do it a different day." I pouted.
"It's fine." She sighed. "I just didn't think Luke would want to babysit two cranky kids."
